Hey you guy's tinting the tail light. Are your tint guy's just putting regular tint on them or using some kind of shrinking tint. My car is getting tinted today and my tinter said regular tint wouldnt work for this?
Thanks

I haven't heard of anyone using actual window tint to do it. I believe Flip uses automotive paint to tint, not sure on his mixture but when I did mine I did a mix of clear coat and black pearl for them. You can also use VHT Nightshades, it comes in a spray paint can. I'm pretty sure that window tint won't withstand the weather being on the outside of the car.

i used a spray tint. VHT nightshades. then i cleared over them and waxed them. they dont look the best, but i got the effect i was going for and i never really cared to have a perfect car. here is a picture:

i also used nightshades

wet sand 2000 grit the lenses, vht'd, cleared, wetsanded again, rubbing compound, buffed..

i COULD have made mine nicer, but im lazy. mine also look a little lighter because before i tinted them, i cracked open the back and cleared my tails.

Ya, I didn't go super dark with mine either, Didn't wanna give the 5-0 a reason to show off those nice new lights of theirs. I think I need another layer of clear coat too... : (. Lazy I was. haha

Look's good guy's! I thought I heard guys were using tint I musta red wrong. I didn't know how well that would hold up being on the outside of the lens either. Looks like i will be doing the nightshade!
Thanks for the responses

some use window tint on other cars, the lenses are more flat. Because our lenses are that bubble shape, it would be very hard to get it to stretch and conform right without bubbles. the best bet for our lenses is vht.
