I tried to add on to my orginal post but it wasnt working out. Anyway... here are my tinted tails i used 3 coats of VHT nightshade and 4 coats of clear. I love how they turned out. Also thanks for the help JoRow99!!

Make sure that it is 70° or better when spraying. I noticed your PA plates. Right now it is cooler there than hear in VA.

My wife is from Greensburg and it not that warm (yet).

But I would still wet sand with 1500 grit and wax them until it warms up a little for a clear coat:th_thumbsup-wink:
 


Ok sound like i will be doing a light wet sanding tomorrow, another coat of clear, and a little buff job.... this is such a great cheap apperence mod!
 
lol np. careful when sanding the final clear coat, because it wont be shiny anymore. you need polish to make it shine if you do that. i just got lucky and didnt have to do anything after my last clear coat. btw thats a nice level of darkness!

wetsand between every coat of vht, and then again after your final clear coat. it'll make it hazy, but wipe clean with a rag and then go over it with cleaner wax and that'll bring it shiny(er)

After you wetsand, use rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then meguiars ultimate compound, then how ever many coats of wax you want. That's the easiest way I have found to bring the shine back.
 


looks like you were doing spotty coats, holding the can far away and spraying lightly. if you look at my tinting writeup, thats how my first coat looks. the 2nd coat is heavier and has hardly any texture. wetsanding and polishing after that makes it almost perfect

you will need some 1000-2000 sandpaper to get that texture out. it will look like complete crap, but compound and polish buffs it right out

i dont see the point in sanding between coats of VHT. anything you spray afterwards will smooth it out, and the VHT will stick as long as you only wait 10-15 mins between coats.

If you really have 4 coats of clear on them, yes.

Wetsand thoroughly with 2000. Then use a polish (meguiars #7 is what I used). After that give them a coat of wax to protect them.
 
yeah, i really don't think you need to use a polish like meguiars m205 or anything that has a cut to it. that duplicolor clear isn't super hard like GM clear coats are. I used to get great results doing it all by hand. Then i switched to using a porter cable for the polishing and that made it look even better. easier to do to
