• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Time to upgrade!!!

Well folks, tax time is here, and I am hell-bent to get rid of my '06 base. Its got close to 60K on it, uses 1.5-2qts of oil/month, trans is half shot, etc... Its also an ex-enterprise rental, so it has floormats for options and has been beat to hell!! I was going to get a Charger/300/Challenger but I have recently seen pricing here on 05-07 GT(P)s and GXPs, so I am seriously thinking about keeping with a Prix, or maybe a Bonneville. My question is, given the choice, what would be better the GXP or the S/C. I really am leaning toward S/C, because of all the stuff you can do to them. I figure with minimal cash, I could swap pulleys, do a few other things, and be up close to the GXP HP level, plus I always get a chub when I hear a S/C whine, with an "opened" intake! I am a bit worried about tranny reliability with the V8 though, and if I ever had to work on it! Just looking for you guys' opinions on what I should do! Also from what I can tell, the GP and the Bonne are pretty much the same as far as size and what not (W body). And pricing diff between a GT Prix and a GXP Bonne, were talking $1500-$3000 more for the GXP.

Thanks!

I stand corrected, a few minute on wikipedia, and I find that the Bonneville is in fact a different platform. Also the bonneville GXP looks to have the Cadillac Northstar engine as well as the 4T80-E transmission.

..dont buy a new car. get one in the 2000-2004 range on the cheap and drive the living crap out of it.

My mom's got an '01 GT. I personally prefer the newer body style. I also really hate the interior on the older ones.

dont get a grand prix then. get something different.

im hardcore looking into an 05+ legacy gt or a ~2004 G35. i want some manual transmission action as well.

LOL, I might as well get a "smart" car, but if I got the Cooper, at least I could say its built by BMW!

This reminded me of a question I have. Why are they called "Smart" cars when they look so dumb? Also why do the so-called green cars or hybrids built to look so dorky? It just makes my head hurt!

I couldn't buy one, because I have to have a back seat. I need to tote my kid around sometime, and I am pretty young, so..... The backseat is... a "necessity". :th_mischievious: :th_thumbsup-wink:
I suppose on a side note, that anyone driving one of those tuna cans, wouldn't need to worry about either of those 2 uses. :th_laugh-lol2:

I plan on going to test drive a Bonneville GXP this week, and I am also gonna go look at a pair of 06 Monte Carlos (SS / LTZ), as I think the 06-07 Montes look AWESOME!! All GM Certified, so they have the 12/12000 and 5/100K Power train warranty. I will keep you posted!
