time for new battery?

For the last week my car has been progressively harder to start every morning (turns over slower each day before finally starting). After the first start in the morning she starts normally the rest of the day

Today it was VERY slow to start, and after starting I noticed my radio display was not lit up (my HUD was working normally though, as well as my DIC) and also my ps pump seemed to be pretty loud. After driving for a few minutes it lit up normally and the ps whine went away. This leads me to believe it isn't my alternator, but my battery. However I would expect my other electronics to be dimmer/not visible as well.

What do you guys think? Fair assessment or is something else going on?
 


Yeah usually single digits at night lately

I realize that a start in cold weather like that after sitting overnight will usually take slightly longer, but I wouldn't think it should take progressively longer every day
 
When I was having issues with my battery I would go out to my car and it would be completely dead. But if the temp was above 15-20* it would be fine, anything lower than that would kill the battery.
 
look at your battery, some where on it is a date of manufacture, and another that says how many months its good for.

sounds like your battery is more then used up. time for a new one. or used at a junk yard is rather cheap most of the time.

you can drive to a auto zone and have it load tested, this will tell if its dead or not for sure.
 


the months and 1-10 are printed on the label of the battery with "dec" and "2" punched out, does that mean december 2002? if so I'm not surprised I need a new battery lol
 
post a pic if you can. it does sound like its old.

most are 36, to 48 month battery's, so 3 to 4 years they should last. longer in warmer climates.
 


that would be the sale date, it may have been on a shelf for a year before you got it.

warranty is good tho, they pro rate the cost of a new battery, the newer it is the less they charge for the new one.

you may also want to unplug any phone chargers or radar detectors and stuff like that, if the little led is on its still drawing power. and can kill a battery over night when its cold out. or if a light is left on over night.

some times trunk lights dont turn off or glove box lights. and you dont know it.
 
I didn't buy the battery and don't have the receipt though, unfortunately. I doubt they would accept the warranty based off of the label being punched lol
 
then full price it is lol i got a international battery, its doing well the last 3 years. i think it cost me around 120 iirc.
