Time for a new exhaust

Rust has finally gotten the better of my exhaust system, so it's time to get a new one. I'm looking for stock-like sound, but maybe a custom 2.5" setup. Anyone have the Magnaflow system for our cars (the newer one, not the GMPP version)? I don't think I'd mind it, but I'm leery of the straight-through mufflers that come with that kit. I had some of those a few years back and they were pretty loud (loud enough to wake up my son who sleeps over the garage). $700 for that system is something I'm not sure about either.

I would get a custom exhaust at a local shop done. I got mine done for my mustang for 230.00 with a set of flow masters.

As for exhaust muflers maybe some dynomax turbo muflers. Those seem to sound pretty good.

i would stick with stock mufflers if you are worried about it being loud. i would just run all new piping to new stock mufflers. use a nice glasspack instead of a resonator if you want a little more throaty sound.

if my exhaust were sealed up correctly i would stop by and let you hear mine, but my exhaust is broke in the downpipe before my cat. :p

my slp mufflers with the trapezoid tips sounded good on a stock exhaust.........they r sitting in my basement right now until i get around to selling them lol

Is anyone running that newer Magnaflow system? Just curious what it sounds like (inside and out). Also, what's a good resonator to use? I had used a Thrush glasspack in the past, but I still had drone (might have been the mufflers, not sure).

i have the zzp 3" cat back exhaust on my car now with no cat and magnaflow mufflers....its pretty loud but i like it

When I did mine, I deleted the ressy and threw on some mufflers. Had some drone, but found out it was from the mufflers. I'd go with what TDC and Bio said.Get some turbo style mufflers and replace the ressy with a glass pack and get a shop to put on new pipe. No need to spend a bunch of money on exhaust that's not going to gain you performance.

I agree...I can't see spending that much on an exhaust. I'll have to get a new y-pipe, though, since mine is almost rusted through. So by that point, I'm looking at most of a cat-back. I don't mind piecing it together...just trying to make sure it's economical and doesn't sound like crap. ;)
