Tim King transmissions.....

3000 miles on a fully built one with 7/8 chain 3.29 and 300m input shaft and the converter decides it no longer likes tcc lockup and chuggled itself to death. There's metal in the fluid and it's slipping. I have to pull it and ship it back. This is my only car at the moment. FML

that is no good.. I have heard nothing but good things about his trannys

Me too, that's why I bought from him. It was also cheaper than tripleedge. On top of this issue he shipped it with a 245mm converter and I had to get a new flexplate for it. As far as warranty, it shouldn't be a problem. The biggest problem is it's my only driving car at the moment and now I have to go find a junkyard trans to drive the car on.

Ya that sux... that is the HUGE reason why I am going with a zpp tranny when i get mine done. They are local and I will have all the work done there...

That sucks man, I got a trans from him and while I have no issues his feedback seemed great which is why I went with him as well, and plus I saved close to $500. I'm sure he'll make it right for you.

Its not about blowing a trans or not. I want a company with a website full of contact info, parts, services and a warranty listed. triple edge is that company. If they don't stand by their warranty, the BBB can step in and take appropriate actions.

Who does Tim King work for? I know he used to work for intense, but is he doing this out of his garage now? Not bashing, I really don't know anything besides "he has a shop in Ohio"

Based on the things I've seen in the car world some people have warranties that they back, and some don't... If I can't see that warranty, why would I put my full trust behind that product?

Maybe he goes by the Tommy Boy theory...
Tommy: Chicken wings! Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.
Ted Nelson: Go on, I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside.
Ted Nelson: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
Ted Nelson: What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Buildin' model airplanes!" says the little fairy, well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off your dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I've seen it a hundred times.
Ted Nelson: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I've got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.
Ted Nelson: Okay, I'll buy from you.
Tommy: Well, that's... What?

Well I tried to drive it home and didn't make it to the highway before the converter let go completely. Luckily I was at a friends place who has a truck and trailer and is going to toe it back to his garage. Just have to find another transmission to drive it on.

I have a TK trans with no issues currently running it on my turbo setup with well over 3K miles. He's a good guy and will work with ya and yes he will gladly give you his number and email. As I have both. With how many sells he has I seriously doubt he would purposely screw some one. And if the convertor is the issue it's not on him it's the company that made the part. All he did was assemble it.

As far as the BBB goes that is a crock of ****. You do realize they charge business's to be members and give poor ratings to the company utility they become members. There have been plenty of news stories on this. Ironically some companies had D or lower ratings, but when they paid magically that letter grade was moved to an A with in minutes of payment or an upgrade. I would never trust what the BBB says as it's apparent they have always been about the money not the consumer.

Have you ever had to use the BBB as a consumer? They got me money back last year when I bought a Rollmaster Double timing set from a company that never shipped it after said company ignored my calls and e-mails.

Yea Tim has been good about communication. I have his number. I'm just ranting that it sucks because I have to ship it back. It always shifted great but it developed torque converter chuggle off and on. Just happens today the torque converter just let go. If I had the time and means I'd just throw a converter in it and see if it drives. I'm sure though that the converter sent metal particles all through the trans because the pump began to churn and whine during it's death throws today.

I'm running one of Tim's transmissions as well and it has performed great since day one.In his case, notice that the transmission didn't fail, it was the tourqe converter, not Tim's fault. Tim is a stand-up guy, he'll help you as much as he can. Good luck.

Well the thing is, stuff happens. If it was the converter, then chances are it wasn't Tim's fault. I've bought a handful of things from him, and he's always done me right.
I wouldn't have any problems recommending him to people. Dave is a close friend of mine, so that's why I whore out his transmissions like I do to all my friends. And his cust. service is flawless. That's his personal business and he takes things seriously, you can't let bad things happen and not help your customer base.

Yea, I could kick myself for not having him ship me a 258mm converter before I swapped flex plates when he sent me a 245mm

Warranty on transmissions? That's a joke lol
Anyways Tim is a good guy. Quality comes when your NOT a business. Seen it all too many times before.
Good luck. Sent him PM on cgp. I'm sure you will get a response soon after

i'm not on cgp though and would really like to get a trans from him within the next couple of months.
