Tie Rod Nut Stuck.. any suggestons?

Changing my tie rods on a 99 gtp, can't find any pair of vise grips or anything to get the damn lock not off at the end of the outer tie rod on either side. The actual tie rod end comes off with no effort though. Tried map tourch, 3 pairs of vise grips holding the rod, pipe wrenches, and yes i tried the half inch wrench to hold the rod but that stripped right away. I'm taking it to get an alignment tomorrow maybe just let them worry about it?? Pissing me off anyone have suggestions?? :th_scratchhead:

Let them deal with it if they have to align it they will get it loose. When i've done alignments we have had to heat the hell out of them sometimes

I always leave the outer tierod in the knuckle and use a big adjustable wrench and they always break free.

When I did that the whole rod with the nut stuck to it just spins as the tierod end with the knuckle loosens off. I can't find anything that can hold the rod in place so I can break the nut free. I've heard heat is best but I couldnt get it with my map tourch.

I do what Dan said.. yet to have an issue. Of course I also don't feel the need to replace that nut when I'm doing the tie rod end.

the inner tie rod has a square part on it, for holding it still to crack the lock bolt if needed.

if that rod and the nut spun, then its free from the outer tie rod. if so, then pop the tie rod off the knuckle and unscrew it. then put the new one to the lock nut. let the alignment shop deal with the lock nut.
