Ticking noise, thinking lifter

I did a search on here and this sounds like my problem. Lately when its cold (sign 1) its been making a consistant ticking noise (2) that seems to get louder (3) when i drive it around and it goes away after its warmed up a few min (4).

It shot me an check engine light once that said cylinder 6 was misfiring, at the time i was thinking i had a coil issue so i swapped coils around and was hoping to get another check engine light with a different cylinder. Now i can't get it to give me another cel and the problem is still presisting.

Ive read on here a few things about how to fix but figured i would ask again. Its got a filter from Auto zone, i got with regular quakerstate oil (it was the curent special). This is after i figured out that the pcv valve was missing and fixed a vaccum hose. Well the car ran great for about 5 days and now this. When i changed the oil i put a can of RESTORE in it (might have been a mistake).

Here are the fixes i have read: change oil filter, seafoam, oil stablizer. Anything else? Also how often do lifters wear out on these? Not very often i would guess?

not very often. im on stock 130k lifters.

the only way to know is to open it up and check everything out. i would check the rockers first, then proceed to the lifters since they are under the lower intake manifold.

what happens when a lifter goes out I am having ticking noises and misfiring and black smoke when I go to get on it and makes a bunch of racket when u get on it.

Ok i have a new theory after i checked my engine oil today. The oil was fine far as how much, but there was a ton of carbon particles everywere. It had been running so long without the pcv and burning oil that its got tons of carbon debrea now working off everything. So i think between debrea in the oil filter (causing oil pressure issues) and whatever stuff that might have worked its way into the lifters that it could cause these problems.

A couple early oil changes and i think the debrea and ticking will work its way out of the system.

I changed the oil and the oil was dirty. And the oil filter had sludge comming out of it. The oil and filter was a whole week old.

After all of this the ticking noise was still there. I hope with time that it will just kind of go away.
