Thunderbird SC

So today in work this nice clean Thunderbird SC (Super Coupe) was sitting on the shop floor this car was clean and came directly from Ford Motorsports in Florida. The car is peal white and the last year they made the car. It has 80k on it about with leather interior with the Ford 3.8L supercharged engine RWD (pretty sure its factory intercooled). I knew about these cars but this was the first time i ever seen one in person. Anyone know about these cars has anyone ever raced one? Just curious..

Here is a pic of the engine I took

they like to eat head gaskets. good cars. sccoa.com read up about em. may not be a giant IC but you can drop more pullies vs the gtp. I wouldnt mind having a 5.0 chicken again, or getting a 93 sc and making it look like a none s/c.

I know they got over 300ft lbs of torque and like 220ish hp but forgot. They are a lil quick but i believe they are only like mid 15's stock. They have decent aftermarket and the pretty good styling. Its similar to a GTP if you ask me.

raced one before ran little slower then my stock gtp with a open filter only mod i had might be because it was rear wheel drive

All the mods on those cars seem to be about double to three times the price of what it takes to mod a gtp. But they are very cool, I almost bought one a few years back.

If it was the last year made then it's a 95. Was it an auto or 5-speed? 5-Speeds are rare. And yes, the Ford 3.8 likes to eat HG's, but that is fixable w/ the new MLS headgaskets. There are quite a few nice ones over on SCCoA. RWD w/ IRS rear. Change out the rear gears, j-mod the trans. (if it's the 4R70W) and throw some stall in it. Would give a GTP a run with a few mods. And yes, they are heavy being RWD, nothing a little weight reduction can't fix, lol...

They aren't good to DD though, parts are expensive and seem to break a lot more than they should. Would def. track one though or make it a "summer" car.

I had a 94 SC, 5spd 230hp... jeez, 10 years ago now.
Just some minor mods and it ran well into the 13s... got rear ended at a stop light :(

Not mine but looked exactly like this

Eh... Those numbers are a bit misleading, they are easily capable of mid-high 14s in stock form, granted the 94-95 SCs were a little bit quicker. You may be quoting numbers for the pre 94s. However back on SCCOA I remember seeing plenty of stock SCs in the 14s.

I'd love to pick one of these up if I could find one that is in good shape. I have driven these before a couple of different ones and they are a blast!

I really have a thing for 90s cars. lol
