Thumping noise

My kid was telling me his car is making an awful thumping noise. He claims it only happens when coasting. Not under acceleration or braking and less when turning. Looking for suggestions on what to look for when he gets home tonight.
 


Look at the cv’s and control arm bushings/ball joints/arms themselves. It’s a start. Mine are a bit clunky, but I have the new arms in the trunk, just being lazy.

Another good suggestion but in the end, I did not find any hookers in the trunk and the music was turned down so those weren't the problem :th_laugh-lol2: The problem as it turned out was 2 loose lug nuts on the left front wheel. He took it to a place to get the tires re-seated last week and they neglected to tighten 2 lugs. I'm calling them tomorrow to inform them of their lack of detail.

Since there were ABS codes i fixed them as well. There was a broken wire to the hub.

That’s entirely possible, but I have driven many a car with 2 out of 5, even 2 out of 6 lug nuts remaining. Keep an eye on it to see if there is any noise at all.
