Throttle Body swap

If I remember correctly, the 3.1 has an oval throttle body, while the 3.8 is round, but anything is possible, you would have to make an adapter plate most likely

My wifes GA has a 3.1L motor and I do believe it has an oval TB. But I dont think it is oval on the side that connects to the intake manifold. I can check if I dont forget if you need me to.

I have a 3.1 gp and yes the outlet is oval. also I think its the MAF sensor is a seporate unit

do you maybe have a picture of it. the only pics I can find are of engines that have the cover on or just the tb off the car

Let me see what I can dig up for you. Might take me a few minutes. If I dont have one I got two in the garage I can take a picture of.

Generally speaking, that large of a TB is going to require some tuning via the PCM. How much you can get away with and what any ill effects there would be Im not sure. I would say that that much more air would have you running incredibly rich and being too rich can be just as problematic as too lean.

Which 3.1 do you have? Is the 8th vin digit t or m> If the digit is an m then the throttle body is made into the intake like the 3.4 dohc vin x engine is but. On the vin t 3.1 engine the part of the tb were u connect theair duct to it oval but the uim said is round.

so are you saying I might be able to use a tb from a 3.4? BTW I should have mentioned this earlier but I have a 2003 GP

yeah it definitely has an oval intake thinger mer bobber... the MAF is also seperate. we got the shaft on that.. it sucks if you want a sweet intake because it kinda looks ****ty with the MAF

I just went ahead and made a FWI from the end of the MAF yesterday. it looks decent but sounds awsome at WOT.
