Throttle body bolt snapped off - cant find replacement

Evidently my torque wrench isn't sensitive at <10ft/lbs and I wasn't paying attention, doing three things at once, and I snapped one of the upper two bolts right off. It's the one that screws into the plenum, top right if facing the the intake. I was able to get it out of the plenum clean, threads intact, now need a new screw for it.

I've searched everywhere online and can't find a replacement screw/bolt that isn't included in a whole new throttle body. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Much appreciated.

I haven't. This happened an hour ago. The one that snapped seems soft and it screws through a plastic insert in the throttle body itself - would those things matter in matching a replacement? Anything else to keep in mind from hardware store?

As long as the thread pitch and length are correct - I wouldn't be worried. Then if it bothers you - get to a junkyard later on and swap it out

if you need to drive the car , you can goop the gasket and install a bolt top left bottom right and it should hold over to get you to a store.

\_(ツ)_/¯

You need a 1/4" drive torque wrench that measures in-lbs. So instead of trying to measure 10 ft lbs, you set for 120 in-lbs.

Regarding the bolt, if the other one is the same, take it to the hardware store, or Fastenal if you have one nearby, and you are matching 3 things: 1. Length of the bolt, 2. Thread pitch, and 3. diameter. Head style is less important (phillips, hex, torx, etc.) as long as the the mating surface is the same size or close.

IIRC, the studs on my 02 TB are M4 x 1.0 which means the bolt is 4mm in diameter and there is one thread per mm.

I know, I was saying you were pretty close going from memory. Wasn't meant to be a dig. maybe I should have used a smiley ;)
