if anyone has thrasher does yours have a really loud airsucking noise on cold start and after it is warmed...the noise is quite aggrevating.ive cleaned air filter and still does this.car was bought with intake already on so i dont kno how its sposed to sound
 


Normal issue... Mine was kinda annoying too until it warmed up... It sounds like the vacuum at the car wash...
 
I had a thrasher on my GTP, and I loved it. Including the noise. I had proven results on my friends scanner with that intake. And I just purchased another one for my Impy.
 


Well I was about to order the Wizair until this thread got me thinking. I used to have a Thrasher on my 99gtp, but I only had that car for a few months and don't remember much about it.

Now the thrasher doesn't have the pretty reflective lining like the Wizair. Do you guys really think that that insulation is effective? I could see it being slightly effective but not enough to be able to make a difference.

I remember seeing a picture on this site or the other site that showed a homemade intake that someone made out of Lexan, with insulation included.

I wouldn't mind a Thrasher considering they are Made in Indiana, which is where I live and their website says back in 1997 they tested the Thrasher during their R&D stage on the Indiana/Michigan border. I live right on the Indiana/Michigan border.
 
the tubing on the wiziar....eghhh. i went to auto zone and got some better tubing. i also routed the filter closer to the headlight and pushed the box up against the frame as much as i can, it had small gaps. now im just working on something to insulate the box even more to make it fully effective. the tubing can easily be replaced tho. pretty much your buying the box..
 


what about the cold air induction box??? it looked to be built VERY well. the wiziar for one doesnet even seal where the tubing goes into the box. its just got some flaps and hopefully that is enough. its a good design in general but it could use some modifications.

After driving around in rush hour traffic for nearly an hour, I've done a personal check. Feel the aluminum box and it's rather hot from the air being blow on it from the radiator. Popped the lid off and felt the filter and the inside of the insulation... felt about ambient temp or just a hair over.

Good enough for me. It's the same stuff used in home construction, so it works well.

The intake tubing was even fairly cool inside when the outside was warm to the touch.
 
The Cold Air Inductions box does not fit the 04+. But with only slight modification it will, according to a guy I spoke to on the phone that works there.

The 04+ have a hose that comes out of the driver side corder of the top of the radiator. All you have to do he says is grind about a half inch of the corner of the Cold Air Inductions box off in order for it to fit. Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Exactly what I wanted to know, thanks.
 


I do have one official gripe. If you mod a lot the intake tube will have to be replaced eventually. I've taken it off nearly a dozen times and the throttle body end is fraying just a little. It'll probably still go for quite a while, but worth noting.

ZZP does sell replacement ducts, or you can use your own. Up to you.
