Those of you with double roller timing chains....



Not even close anywhere, I ground on my oil pump cover with my angle grinder and only did the areas where the chain would have a chance to hit and left the rest stock height.

How is the dampener gonna get destroyed any faster than with a stock chain? Chain slap is a bad thing, so you guys can go ahead and get your "I told you so" ready cause it's not coming out...

I would think you guys would be drilling SuperchargedFiero for the cam and crank gears not aligning which is why the double chains are believed to fail anyway right??
 
All I know is that the outside of the existing chain is smooth and those of ZZP / intense are not smooth and allowing the tensioner wears out faster
 
So finally it is ready and this is without a gasket in between , so up to the next thing
The magnet is being held by two clips but sits loose in ther what is the best way and to be sure it stay's there :)

After emailing a bit with intense on my heads I asked about the dampener just to see the guys honest opinion and this it their reply. After looking through my pics I noticed only 6 of the 8 links sit on the dampener so that's a little more wear, but luckily I accounted for the chain being much more taught than a stock even after it stretches by bending the spring just a tad to take some pressure off of it. I will open her up and replace with a new dampener when I blow my trans and post results. I'm not worried about it til then though...

The commodore VT, VX, VY came supercharged so I'm guessing Holdens ecotec 3.8L is meaning supercharged.

There may be no differences between the n/a 3.8l and s/c 3.8l versions, sometimes they mark up prices on that stuff and the n/a version is always cheaper, like head gaskets.


VN series 1 Buick v6

VP-VR series 2 Buick v6 (revised series one different fuel rails etc)
VS on Ecotech & L67

Our n/a Ecotec LN3 is equivalent (inside internals) to their series II L36.
Our S/C L67 is equivalent to their series II L67.
Their Series III L32 we didn't get here, but a lot of L32 parts fit the L67's

I fitted a Rollmaster double row timing chain a couple of weeks ago and set it to +4 heres some pictures of the double row crank sproket fit and the standard sprocket
