Thinking of putting a 3.8 SC in my 99 s10

So last fall I had a guy come over in an 80s shelby charger that had a 3.8 SC motor in it and I had told him about my plans to put a v6 in my s10 we both knew it could be done but he suggested that I put a 3.8 in my s10. Instead of the motor from an s10 blazer. Do to I would get more power out of the 3.8SC
So is this a worthy project or should I stick with my original plans?????

As a Moderator over at S10Planet.com, I DEMAND you sign up and create a project thread if you decide to take on this task, lol. I know you would have quite a few followers over there if you join up.

It might even be worth it to join up, do some research, and talk to "Neo" He is our resident swap guru when it comes to S-series trucks and 60 degree and 90 degree engines.

You're talking about the Vortec 4300 vs an L67? Uhm, L67. More power, more fuel efficient. I wouldn't tow with it, but if its just a drive around truck (which an S-10 is), an L-67 would be cool.

The problem isn't getting the motor in it's getting a trans that will bolt up and take the abuse.

So I’ve taken out the whippy 4 banger motor and I do have a 4.3or v8 to put in. but that seemed too common of a project. The only problem I see is making motor mounts and routing the intake for the SC and the wiring for the new computer

Superchargered 3.8 into any rear wheel drive is tuff. There would be dozens of Camaro's that way if the inlet end of supercharger wasn't touching fire wall. Then you have to mount a throttle body and stuff. You need a auzzie m90 for rear wheel drive but not many in the states.

one of the problems would be matching it up to the tranny. if it came with the 4 cylinder you might be ok but if it came with the 4.3 the bellhousing wont match up. also you would have to worry about the placement of the alternator.

From the last page of that thread.

"long story short i dont recommend this swap unless you really want to and have enough of your own knowledge to do it because youll get your self in way to deep and no one will be able to get you out"
