First, The car is not a grand prix or w-body at all. No money there. It's a 2000 Camaro Z-28 with body damage but supposedly a good drivetrain.

High miles, 196k. But, LS1. Stock.

Fix it and flip it?, Fix it and ditch the 300+whp GP I daily drive? Fix it and keep both? Or leave it be.

Going to look at it Saturday as this is as soon as the owner can show it.
 


I don't see any money to be made there.

Even with the body fixed it's still an auto car with high miles, the price is still going to be low. Maybe a 5-6k car max, maybe.

The motor should be solid still, just broke in really for most LS engines. The 4L60e is still iffy, they aren't strong to begin with but the only thing it has going for it is a light weight car compared to being in a heavy truck platform.
 
Nah, agreeing with ffdp, that body damage is going to cost a pretty penny, then its less desirable auto, high miles, I wouldn't risk it

Offer him $2000... take it home, strip motor and trans, and whatever wiring you need, part the rest out... find another car that deserves an LS1 and have at it. Unless someone with body work skills buys that car, someone will buy it for parts.
 


Oh and I'm no body man but I've replaced a few quarter panels before. I know the rear of this will be a pita as its one piece and full of spot welds, but I'm a good welder so no worries there. I figure I should be able to do all the work myself with junkyard pieces if i go that route. Even Paint it myself.

I don't think there's money to be made flipping 200k cars that need the whole side. Wouldn't sell a nice GP to buy it, myself. To aid your decision process, imagine a normal 200K mechanical problem happening a week after the body is fixed and painted. Like a knock or bad trans or axle. Then are you still in?
