Thinking about switching to turbo...

You guys that switched to turbo, do you like it better than the supercharger and why did you switch? I had a turbo setup in my car with the gm 3.4L and loved it. I have been really considering switching to turbo setup on the L67. Engine is built. I may have a problem fitting it in my engine bay though... Does anyone besides ZZP sell just the cross over pipe for a turbo setup? Thanks

DIY man.

Use the stock crossover and modify it?

I mean, if you have an L67 in a Cavy...I'm sure you're golden with fab work.

I'd pick up a wastegate perch from ZZP. They're like 80 bucks or so.

Get a generic IC kit...wastegate, blow off valve, oil feed lines...and obviously whatever turbo you'd run coupled to a flange that you'd want to run.

Only thing you might want to "BUY" per say, is a downpipe. But again, totally up to you. Plenty of different routes you can take. You'd either need to block off the blower, or swap an N/A top end on.

Reptile has an FBody intake setup that is already tapped so you can keep your L67 heads, too. However it would move everything throttle body wise to the opposite side.

I'd just dig around on here and google to see what works best for ya.

I loved my turbo gp. Was going to turbo the impala but family is more important at the moment for me. If I had the money I'd do it again!

packaging the turbo and all other parts in the jbody would be my only concern.

although if you wanted to a passenger side F body intake and make it cool, you can mount the turbo higher in the engine bay.

Turbo all the way! I was using N2O with a SC to help the top end. Switched to a turbo and it's night and day. Endless powerband too! Spray is expensive, air is free.

Is there anything in particular about your transaxle that would prevent a standard zzp crossover from working?

Aside from your brake booster and master cylinder I don't think you would have any issues running a standard W body downpipe as your steering rack is at the same elevation and location as the w

Ya most turbo kits require some custom modifications to make it all fit right buts not bad and was fun for me. Not saying that he kits won't fit when get them but there's usually a little finagling to get everything on. And then you start learning about all the extra small stuff that can make a big difference in the long run.
