thermostat swap

hey guys new here i got an 06 gp sc i just picked up a 180 degree thermostat was wondering if there was a write up anywhere that i might have missed or give me sime advice on how to swap thanks for any info is apreciated

easiest mod ever... just look at it and folow your upper radiator hose back to the motor... theres a metal piece it clamps to and two bolts holdin it down take those bolts out and pay attention to how the origional was in there, replace and put back together

btw a pcm with altered fan temps is a great way to actually take advantage of it too... otherwise youll have a wide swing on the temps when not moving. no biggie though and no reason to be concerned

the swap is really simple and straight forward. I did it on my 99 gtp with no mechanical experiecne at all. it may be slightly differnt on yours but should be similar.

all you have to do is follow the larger radiator hose towards the engine (driver side on my 99, should be on yours too), you should see a metal housing thats somewhat bell shaped, this is the t stat housing. i belive there were just 3 or 4 bolts holding it in place. remove these and lift up the housing ( have a good sized bowl or something ready because coolant will spill out, also GIVE THE ENGINE PLENTY OF TIME TO COOL the sh!t will be HOT otherwise.) now you should see the t stat sitting there. just pull and replace. reinstall housing and your done.

:th_shakinghead2: all that typing for nothing? you bastardo lol... x2 on pcm, theres nothin wrong with running without it, itll just be more effecient with it

oh and when your done open that brass screw on top to bleed out any air. just leave it open til it flows solid coolant...

yeah typing with a cig in one hand and a cast on the other is a b!tch lol

no excuse i just had a plate and 5 screws put in my shoulder, its like the worlds most useless limb right now and i been drinking beer and eating popcorn with the other

I would like to do that to my 97, should be the same right? what kind of thermostat do I need to get? cause there are 2 types (if I remember good) I want to change it because lately, my car temperature stays on almost 210 mark

and whats this do..... sorry im just being dumb right now, does you engine run cooler with a smaller tstat in it?

Not to hijack the thread...but can somebody tell me if the tstat on an 03 SE sits on it's side as opposed to the traditional upright position?
