Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Thermostat housing sealant?

I don't know much about impalas, for some reason i thought you were supercharged....ever consider a top swap?

It's already in the works.

Impala SS's are the equivalent of a GTP. Impala LS's are the equivalent of a GT (with a minor gearing change). Base model Impalas are usually 3.4L, so just a bit above a GP SE.

This as far as engines are concerned. Suspensions options are different. Like the SS's already have a lot of GMPP parts.

I can't believe you guys have trouble getting it to seal. I bet your gasket surfaces are dirty. I wipe it down and scrape the housing side every time I change one out. Did my fourth change today, and still no issues sealing.

I donno, I clean mine pretty damn well too. Even used scotchbrite. Its not like its rocket science. The only seal is the T-stat seal itself for the LIM and the housing. It'll either seal or it won't.

Agreed, Scotchbrite the LIM and housing. If all else fails, Yamabond. It is the best. Period. I have never used a commercial RTV that is better than it. IMO.:th_thumbsup-wink:

Ok I've got the same leaking issue. At first I had the P0128 code come up and after a few hours post removal I noticed the t-stat was still wide open. So I went to Autozone and got a new t-stat and gasket, installed it but now it leaks once the engine begins heating up, and the engine QUICKLY red-lines overheat shortly after so I dare not drive it at all until this is fixed. I pulled the new one out and checked the gasket's direction but I had it installed correctly, I re-installed the old one but it still leaked. I should also mention that I thoroughly wiped the mating surface for both the housing and where the t-stat sits but it still leaks like a siv from the front of the housing once the engine heats up. Should I resort to RTV as well? Thanks for any assist...
