The *Unofficial* GPF RC Thread

I'm undecided if I should get the metal cv shafts or just stick with the plastic ones. The largest battery I can afford is the 1750, but idk if its worth the extra $10 over the 1200. I know what is needed to do a lipo conversion on this truck.

up grade the dog bones, they blew once so soon it will happen again.

most of us he who have had rc cars know what we break and buy spares, or up grade to metal parts, i had a spare bulk head on hand at all times, spare lca's spare shock parts, spare slipper clutch parts, spare spur gears and clutch bells. if it breaks you buy 2 new. cause its gonna break again.

even the sun gears in the rear of my truck came plastic, burnt them up fast, went with metal and killed them too, so i got two new sets cause i just learned they also will fail.

its a play break and learn what you need to have on hand.

^^^truth.

in order to do Lipo you have to have a charger that is compatible with Lipo (preferably balance charger) or an external balancer, lik an Astro Blinky. You will also need to have a low voltage cutoff so you don't damage the battery. Then there's the whole C rating thing.

That works out like this C is the capacity of the battery. So say you have a 5,000 mah (=5Amp Hour) and its 20C that means your maximum discharge rate is 20 times the capacity or 100 amps.

they will have a maximum charge rate usually 1-2 C so 5 or 10 amps. So you can charge in 1 hour 1C or 30 minutes 2C or so.

And stay away from MaxAmps.

I already looked into this, I've seen threads on people who have done it and even what size batteries fit.

My Ghetto fix lol

Also this new charger is a bazillion times better than the one that came with it. I can charge my battery in about an hour.

Yeah, if I go brushless I have to change the gears in the diffs to metal, I have already looked into what car had metal gears that fit, the plastic ones strip out with the stock motor.

Any of you guys have nitro planes? Just got mine out today and started it for the first time in a few years. Motor is about 30 years old now. Tuning sucks lol.
