The purge sensor question

So i got everything going fine on the 96 grand prix except one thing now it idles real poorly. I have a scanner so i put it on there no codes were present but i played around in the functional test and when it got to purge sensor i flipped it on and it idled smoothly but soon as i take the scanner off it goes back to normal. Pretty much saying the sensor is back off.

Any ideas? Is it broke or is it not acting right from something else?
 


its posible the purge sensor is bad, or a vacuum leak, i dunno usually idle problems are idle sensor, or mass air on ur 96, o2 can idle funny too but seems like u would get a code, had a 96 lumina with a bad idle sensor, didnt give me a code, i changed it and perfect.
 
Yea i was seeing if there was a broken hose or one that had fallen off. I unhooked the mass air flow sensor and it idled smoothly. So it may be that.
