Comparing the new 3900 with the old 3800. first off does anyone know y they stopped the 3800? all of GM used it so its not like it had to go bye bye with the pontiacs. Now if i read correctly the manual transmission from the G6 is what ppl are putting in there GPs. is that correct? whats the difference between the 3.8 and 3.9? it looks kinda the same. do they make superchargers and stuff for it? i did a little research and didnt find much on it. lemme know what u guys think
 


As far as I know GM 3800's stopped because gm wanted something different for their new lineup after the fallout, hence why everything changed around the same era. Also I beleive they are supposed to be more fuel efficient. I could have just made that all up though...

You can either use a G6 trans or a getrag 284 (see kuntzies build).
The difference is .1L
Superchargers and Turbos can be made to fit anything.
 


i think it was called the vortex engine line lol it blows just about every engine gm made out of the water. and the v6 in a camaro makes 300 hp, idk why they would stop making these 3800's lol
 
No engine is MADE to handle boost that didn't come with it from the factory.

That being said, GM improved some engines over time that were capable of handling a good amount of boost with little to know mods, IE, 5.3L LSX, N/A 3800, etc.

I persoanally would not get a 3.9, because it hasn't been around long enough to be improved upon or build a reputation based on reliability. If you're a gamer, think of it like the original xbox 360, they all had problems, most didn't happen right away. Then the second edition came out and they are much better.
 


what cars come with the 3.6?

and i know all car companies are making cars more of a b!tch to work on. i'm just shaking my head at the loss of pontiac and 3.8s really lol
 
3.6 eats timing chains.

And so far the only 90* V6 in this thread is the 3800.

Everything else is a 60* V6.

Pretty different things here.
 


new cars are way to complicated to work on and mod its ridiculous

the LFX 3.6L V6 in the camaro puts out 323HP and 278 FT/LBS of torque thats pretty impressive seeing as how 10 years ago all GM could squeeze out of a 3.8L V6 is 200HP but like its been said before these engines are too new to know how well there built

Because the 3800 isn't related to any of the V6 engines GM produced at the same time as the series I,II,III.
