The need for new springs??

Finally got the new rack and new suspension goodies under the Prix and took it in for an alignment today. The guy said they got the front as close as they could, but due to spring compression rates being lower than normal that it may wander left a tiny bit. He suggested new springs all the way around to fix this. He stated than other than the springs everything looked great, and even commented on the GMPP rear arms and sway, lol...

Here is the printout that he gave me with the beginning and end specs...

My question is, is he right? I know the springs are stock and have about 270K on them now so I could believe it. I need to replace the rear struts as well since they are pretty much done. All I had $$ for was to replace the front struts/mounts at the time and reuse the stock spring.

If this is true, then I will have no choice but to explain to the wife why I need to replace all 4 springs and the 2 rear struts, lol... Probably go something like this: "Tire place said the car needs all 4 springs and rear struts replaced otherwise it will just keep chewing up tires and be unstable, and tires are expensive (as she well knows since she has killed 2 front tires within the last year at $200 a pop). Don't want to risk our childs life driving around in something like that, so I'm gonna need to get on it soon."

Translation: I need 4 new springs and rear struts, might as well lower it with plans of adding 18's in the future and replace the struts at the same time, therefore you will not be spending any money on purses/shoes for the next 2 months :p

get lowering springs.

either way, once you put springs on the car the car is going to be raised (if stock) or lowered (if lowering springs) and you'll need to do an alignment again.

With the front being down that far, yeah, I would replace them all.

Now would be a good time to upgrade all your struts to GR2's and drop it a little bit.

- Funny you mention that. The front struts that I just put on are GR2's, so I'm half way there.

I've debated long enough and have decided to lower it a bit, even though when I first got it I didn't care to since its my DD. Might also just go with a 17" rim, not sure yet. Just in the planning stages. I'm tired of the 4x4 look though and new stock springs will make that worse. I'll leave the Bonneville to that look, lol...

And yea, I'll have to get it aligned again after the drop but that's part of the job. Also factor in anti-pogo's and motor/trans mount spacers to avoid the vibs on accel.

Off to search for springs... Already read Bio's sticky just need to research more before dropping the $$$.
