• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The more i work on my car, the worse it gets, read here.

this is a 00 gtp with sd headers, aeroforce scan gauge, 180k miles.
If you havent read any of my recent posts i have had alot of problems regarding the maf sensor, and now the O2 sensor. Long story short, i have a maf low signal, replaced the maf, replaced the o2 sensor. Checked my readings, it gets voltage in and out of it so im concluding that there is a short to ground. Prior to replacing the O2 sensor, i received another dtc p0142 Oxygen sensor heater malfunction. I replaced the o2 sensor, codes still reappear. So im also concluding that my wiring harness is screwed up somewhere from the engine rubbing on it, or from heat etc. i had my own obd diagnostic, snap on ethos, i get 13.8 mpg on the freeway! my goal is to put on a gen v supercharger with supporting mods and call it a day. What is my next step? taking apart the wiring harness? i might take it to a shop and get it worked on.
my codes p0102 -0142. before it got worse, when it was just my maf sensor, i barely got any kr! like no more than 4, even when i tried to abuse it a bit. but now, when i floor it, it goes nowhere, im losing power as the day goes. my aerforce told me it had 80hp one time! D:
I need all the help i can get. thanks

Check your wiring harness at the back pass side of the motor I got mine behind the header and burned it and blew a fuse. Replaced the fuse and fixed the wiring and all is good.

on the side of where the belt is? ill double check my fuses and they all are fine, i shall check again to make sure though.

check the sensor plug wires, where the wires go into the plug, bend it over and if you see bare wires you have found your problem. check the o2 as well, and in the back side of the engine for wires that may have gotten burnt.

yes, i get 12 on the pink, 5 on the yellow. while running, the frequency on the yellow changes, which means the maf is there, working but, the connection between the car and maf isnt going through. some say its my pcm, but thats rare. i wanna get this codes rid off before i do anymore mods.

I'm lookin for a possible connection here. Both O2 sensors have heaters and share that fuse and pink wire along with the MAF. Are we sure about the P0142 code? On a 2000 GTP?

yeah, i have a scanner, and before i got one i got it scanned previously wit that code. ive had it that long that ive memorized it
Maf sensor Low signal and
Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 heater malfunction

Do you have voltage to the heater circuit of the O2?

When was the last time you pulled and checked the connection of the battery cable to the battery?

im pretty sure i do, when i was looking at my data my with my od2 connected and car running, all of my sensors had a reading, but i noticed that the sensor we are having a porblem with, would run rich 1 sec later, lean, 1 sec rich, 1 sec lean. etc
a parasitic drain check?
brand new battery, no corrosion. ill check later at work today, it should minimal within spec.

Not being a dick here...I'd suggest you check the heater circuit. It doesn't make the reading work, it only helps preheat the sensor to work better quicker. Having a code means you need to check it. And I am not 100%, think that the heater is a seperate power source than the sensor voltage.

Brand new battery eh? I asked about the connections and cables. Pull your cables off, look at the cables themselves. A clean battery and nastly cables is often found to cause plenty of issues. It's pretty common to. We assume our side posters don't corrode as much and yet.. I've seen some nasty green cables in the past.

i dont think your being a dick at all bill. I did look at the cables, no evidence of corroding in the wire or around it. Im gonna take the harness apart at one point, but at this point, ive noticed this is a circle because the maf and o2 sensor work hand in hand.Going to replace the rear O2 sensor, and check the heater circuit. see how that works, and go from there. From what my people at work are telling me, something is not getting a proper reading therefore, blaming another unit. But i might check out my fuel injectors. This car hasnt been used in over 6 years. The first drove i got, no power but i was getting almost 28 a gallon freeway. Now, after all the tune ups i have given it, i lost all of that. My car also misfires, but according to my ethos, there is no history or records of my car misfiring. Trying to be open minded and solving this issue

well..I reworded a little as I went along. Therefore I didn't look like a dick, left it in there though.

On the misfires, I've seen this at times. Take the car around the block with a buddy watching misfires on the scanner and figure out which cylinder(s) based on a true drive. Go after those cylinders.

IIRC heater is a seperate fuse and the pcm IIRC sees how quickly the O2 begins toggling properly to determine if that heater is working. That's an off the hip hope that I remember it correctly. But reading up on that code on say Gearchatter would give you the info you need to better uderstand it.

Yes maf and o2's work together to fuel the car, I don't think they are tied in to the same circuit though.
