The hood of death!

exactly, an expiernced painter can adjust on the fly, a student goes into freak out mode if something doesnt go perfectly.

hmm im kinda diggin the slp stripes

so heres another update shop called today and gave me some forsure numbers... said were like at $1016 total and for that he said he can't gurentee that it won't crack a year from now... this hood is hands down the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life... freaking $1466.00 into this hood and thats not including gas or time. So I know have almost 4 grand into my car that I paid $7200 for wtf am I doing lol

theres what I want so I droped the hood off at the shop they said it could be up to 400-500 just for prep and then 300-400 for the paint and about a week untill its ready to paint... so all together in this hood I might have $1500

Im not expert and didn't read all the post but for all the prep and price you'll end up paying to get it perfect. Wouldn't have been cheaper to buy it brand new?? I sure hope you got it for free because it seems like you got in way over your head. My $.2

Even on the brand new hoods theres still about 200-300 of prep work so we talked about getting a new hood but considering there so expensive it was like we could but its not really going to save that much but yeah I payed way to much for this hood it probally wasn't worth $200

So I haven't heared from the shop in over a week I sent them an email this morning and am thinking of calling. Maybe the hood just broke in half or somthing... and they don't know how to tell me...

Fiberglass is by no means hard work to do. Neither is prep. Fiberglass it, prep it, send it in for paint.

They may just be busy.

.... or possible put it over to the side to get the current job done, and then forgot about it :th_jester:

yea I guess their just busy we had a real bad hail storm a few weeks ago...so bad that the local dealer is having a "what the hail sale" can get a 2011 cts for 16 grand lol but yea the guy finally got back to me and all he said was I'll let you know when its ready

I'm not really upset but I am hopeing that he will be like oh sorry about the wait let me knock 200 bucks off... but thats wishful thinking

well being at a bodyshop.

it gets busy and sidework like the hood kinda get forgotten about, and i was dealing with a guy he was super calm about his hood i was painting it took a couple weeks, and he nicely asked for me to take a couple bucks off, **** he was nice about sure why not, if he was a dbag, then no he pays full price

I agree 100% if your going to go b1tch at a buisness do yourself a favor and stay home instead. Funny thing is you need them otherwise you never would have walked in their door in the first place! Or you could abide by my rule # 1 refuse to pay people for what I can do with my own 2 hands! Will it be perfect prolly not. Will it cost less you damn right and I'll bet I'd buy some new tools with the money I saved. Far to many people are scared of paint. Go search the honda-tech.com paint threads and see what guys have done with plastic walls and like 200 bucks worth of materials!!
