I read an article a while back, and in that article they were saying how they have found a way to make ethanol out cellulose I believe it was.

Yup, switch grass is what they were saying could yield twice the ethanol than corn, me thinks.
 


I think I remember reading that they were looking at an algae biomass. The advantage being, you could "farm" the algae in the ocean, or something like that.
 
You guys realize ethanol is made from parts of the plants we don't consume there is no correlation between food prices and ethanol. Brazil does it and has been since the 70s and completley independent. Anybody who dismisses ethanol is really close minded. If you have some time check out pump on netfix.
 
the corn grown for e85 is clearly not for human consumption.

ive heard of algae before too, only you can eat it to survive if need be.

No it's not to make feed ,ethanol is already made anyway in the process.

Alcohol based fuels like ethanol have tye ability to be made from much more than just plant waste. Trash, waste and other things can be used. The only problem is public knowledge due to oil company smear campaigns.
 


You said ethanol is made from parts of the plant WE don't consume. First of all its made from feed corn, we don't eat that anyways. Second you said that there is no correlation between food prices and ethanol. That is untrue. Is ethanol the sole contributor to rising food costs? No, and I didn't see anyone saying that. But it is absolutely a factor in the price of foods that are dependent on corn.
 
Old rotting fruit is good stuff too, just need the sugar and yeast... Higher sugar content the better, more for yeast to eat and **** alcohol! Lolz... Who really cares, as the yield difference for the little guy is dismissible. If your going to produce large quantities for resale then the game changes! Otherwise, it just doesn't matter...
