The Electrical Work Is Done!!

Well its finally all done. Had to do the following:

1. Replace Ignition switch
2. Install Ignition Saver Modification
3. Replaced Blower Motor Resistor
4. Re-wired gauges to passenger side fuse block with 'Add A Circuit' taps
5. Tidied up the wiring under the dash with zip ties

I need to replace the heater core and install my wideband kit so I can do a write up on that. It just takes time to get it all done.
 


I got my add a circuit taps at Advanced Auto. And yes, the lighting of my gauges is wired to the dimmer. Seemed like the best thing to do.
 
Are the add a wire taps as simple as connecting a wire to it and putting it in a fuse slot? And is there a specific slot to use? This sounds like a much better idea than hacking away at my new ignition switch to reconnect my gauges :).

if you're needing power/ground/switched 12v, have you found the power drop accessory plug behind the glovebox? that's an easy way to get what you need. zzp i do believe even sells the mating connector for it.
 
So just where exactly is the plug at? If i get under the dash will i be able to see it, or am i going to have to go through the dash and glovebox?
 


Yeah, I didnt see a plug under there when I was wiring stuff in, but I wasnt specifically looking for it either.

That said, the add a circuit taps do just plug into the fuse panel where there are existing fuses. There is one fuse that is a power drop (10amp) and used that for one, then I used the power for the steering wheel controls (2 Amps) for the other one. The add a circuit taps maintain the existing circuit and, of course, add a drop for whatever you are wanting to wire in and already have the wire connected with a butt connector on it. Was quite convenient. Easy to do and does it in the proper way in that you get fused protection on the extra circuit you are adding.

i need to dig and find it, but essentially, you lower the glovebox to the floor, and behind it is a large run of wire harness. taped up along there is an unused plug, with power, ground, and switched power... labeled as power drop, too.

there was a picture up here in one of the threads, but i cant seem to find it.
 
No, unfortunately. Time was kinda short so I wasnt able to stop and take pics as I went along and take the notes that I normally would. But I can get a shot of how it looks in the fuse panel now if that will help.

can you do me a favor? can you take a peak under the dash and see if you can make out the connector positions for the 12v constant and 12 acc lead used in the ignition saver mod? The connector rows/colums should be labled... i think they're C5 and D6 positions..... I'm doing a plug-and play (no cutting factory wires) version :D (can you tell that's one of my mantras?)

Now why didnt you do this BEFORE I cut mine. Can give infractions just because I dont like someone?




Nah, Im glad you are like that because I sure prefer things like that myself. Not only is it safer and easier, it makes it easy to demod if needed. If I dont forget about it I will get that information for you.
