The Big Bad Brake Thread

Just smash them in lol.. no need to open the bleeder. Grab a C - clamp and squish the piston back in, but open the brake fluid reservoir and make sure you don't over flow the fluid if you have been adding fluid while your pads are wearing down.

Thanks! I wasn't sure,as someone told me it could mess up the abs controller if I did it like that. I take some old fluid out w/ a turkey baster before starting so I won't have fluid overflow.

A good read I am going to be doing a 2005 brakes on my pontiac this weekend. I am wanting simple rotors and pads. This car eats these brake pads like nothing it seems. What are some good choices to go with? Is raysbestos any good? Just looking for some tips to make these pads last a little bit longer than 4 years or so. thanks

I have Raybestos ceramic in front and don't really notice any brake dust. Then again I keep the wheels clean

pads lasting 4 years isn't exactly eating them unless that 4 years is low low low miles but yeah anything ceramic should = low/less dusting and more bite.

So i've searched but the search on this forum is terrible and I want to double check. Are 06 Monte SS brakes the same as GXP? Or f-body? I know they are a direct bolt on and dual piston but not sure the rotor size.

Anyone want some SS brake lines lol? I've got a set of ZZPs if like to get rid of. Brand new banjo bolts included.

get the rotors for what ever calipers your get. no brain'r right?

f bodys take 98-02 camaro/firebird rotor and pads. and need a sleeve to center the bracket bolt, or drilled and tapped for the w body bolts.

That actually wasn't what I meant but I've figured it out. I meant actual rotor size SS is 12 and GXP is 12.7. I wasn't sure if they were the same thing on each vehicle.

I didn't think so, FML!
How about those brake sets?
I kinda like the GXP setr better, looks like it has everything...

If your going to upgrade then upgrade to a fbody setup or bigger. Swapping calipers from a gtp isn't going to do anything for you
