Tensioner #@#%%%!!

bolts out cant budge tensioner if i use flat bar or tap with hammer am I asking for trouble? its a 97 and that timing chain cover has me very cautious

break the top elbow. make sure all the bolts are out.

then as per bills how to, pull on it while doing the slight wiggle side to side. it will feel like its taking forever i know. i have a 98. same bracket.

Its 4 bolts if you count the one for the alternator I missed the one on the bottom left, didn't have to break the elbow it wiggled fine two easy wiggles on the 3rd it came off it was way too easy lol I kept looking to see if I broke something.

sounds good. hard scary part is over now.

make sure those holes are cleaned out good. take the fat O ring off the unused elbow slide it on the cast elbow. lube it with oil and slide em back in.

oh tensioner bracket? those have no spec. for you guys who break bolts, do this. turn the bolt in as far as it goes, then make it snug and a 1/4 turn more, thats it. no need to ape the crap out of them.

LOL yeah but now ,i forgot which bolt hole gets the long bolt I could have sworn it was the top one but it seems to bottom out help

watch out you dont blow a hole in the valve cover lol its happened a lot.

its been years since i took mine off. not sure where each bolt went.

wait its a 97 that cant happen on that year can it?

long one would go in the bracket to the front of the alt. over the water pump area.

in the alt bracket part sticking up on the left side in this pic.

so you are saying the tensioner has all short bolts of tje same size? cause it does fit all the way in on the lower one finger tight but the alternator does make sense and apaarently I lost a bolt somewhere cause I pnly have 3

looks like 3 shorts on the side, one thats longer a bit would go to the alt back side, the longest one would be the front bolt for the alt.

see all the holes lines up?

Duh I feel dumb now sorry Scotty I still had the alt sitting on the work bench, go ahead and laugh I did its together just have to tighten it up

post some pics of this powder coating and paint work. i want to see how much of it can be seen really.

i may just paint every thing white lol that way its easy to find a leak lol
