tcc solenoid?

I have a 03 gtp with 80k I started having problems with my car bogging down from 40mph to 65mph and sometimes the rpm will osilate or bouncing up and down. I was told it was the tcc solenoid locking up and was told to put in a switch where the brake pedal switch is that controls that that disengages the tcc solenoid. It worked great for a while but now even when the tcc is disengaged and even worse with it engaged. Also I do not have any codes coming up. Any ideas? Thank you!

There have been several posts about the "pulsing" issue when the Torque Converter Locks up and there seems to be a lot of possibilities. Mine was a little different.

1. I felt the TCC Oscillation in every gear, at first only 4th, and it jumped a good 500 RPM
2. There were no codes either engine or trans.
3. The scanner couldn't see what was happening.

Summary: Disconnect the battery cables (Both) overnight after touching them together. Fixed MY problem.:th_thumbsup-wink:

After looking through all the posts and researching on the internet and taking it to a trans shop for diagnostics I was ready to tear it apart or put in a transmission. But, about 18 months ago I had a different shop replace the valve body on it and so I though maybe there was a warranty on the valve body that would cover the repairs. I called the shop and he was surprised I was having issues with the valve body because he's never had an issue with that brand before. I showed up at the shop he grabbed the scanner and I drove it for about 10 miles and then he drove it for the same while watching the scanner. He was baffled because there were no codes and the scanner didn't really reflect what the car was doing. He then remember an issue like this on a GM minivan that was doing the same thing and they fixed it by disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight.
So, I went home, disconnected the battery, touched the two battery terminals together for 20 seconds and left it detached all night. It's been two days and over 200 miles and the problem is gone. I hope I didn't jinx it.
Thank you Dave at TripleEdgePerformance for your help and time you took to try and help me with my TCC issue.

I would say replace the TCC solenoid, if you dont have the money to then just disconnect the wire for the tcc solenoid while the car is off and it has sit for a while..if you dont mind being at 65-70mph at 2000rpm...your going to have a SES light on but at least you will be able to have the car shift like it did the 1st time you got your car..

if you wondering where the wire is...on top of the transmission there is a plug connector, on the bottom left of the connector there should be a brown wire.. that would be your TCC solenoid if you like, cut the wire while still leaving your self room to reconnect it later if you dont feel like messing with the plug to pull the pin out.
