TCC Oscillation

There have been several posts about the "pulsing" issue when the Torque Converter Locks up and there seems to be a lot of possibilities. Mine was a little different.

1. I felt the TCC Oscillation in every gear, at first only 4th, and it jumped a good 500 RPM
2. There were no codes either engine or trans.
3. The scanner couldn't see what was happening.

Summary: Disconnect the battery cables (Both) overnight after touching them together. Fixed MY problem.:th_thumbsup-wink:

After looking through all the posts and researching on the internet and taking it to a trans shop for diagnostics I was ready to tear it apart or put in a transmission. But, about 18 months ago I had a different shop replace the valve body on it and so I though maybe there was a warranty on the valve body that would cover the repairs. I called the shop and he was surprised I was having issues with the valve body because he's never had an issue with that brand before. I showed up at the shop he grabbed the scanner and I drove it for about 10 miles and then he drove it for the same while watching the scanner. He was baffled because there were no codes and the scanner didn't really reflect what the car was doing. He then remember an issue like this on a GM minivan that was doing the same thing and they fixed it by disconnecting the battery and leaving it overnight.
So, I went home, disconnected the battery, touched the two battery terminals together for 20 seconds and left it detached all night. It's been two days and over 200 miles and the problem is gone. I hope I didn't jinx it.
Thank you Dave at TripleEdgePerformance for your help and time you took to try and help me with my TCC issue.

Interesting. I had pulsating at a point, it was in fourth gear mostly, uphill when it seemed like the car would think about dropping to third but instead jumped the rpm's up and down..
It just randomly stopped.. But I think the random time fell just in line with my battery being out overnight one night.. Hmmmm.

You mean touch the cables together right? I'm just curious what does this do? Whatever it does im gonna give it a try cuz mines been doin this too. Only 4th though.

I'm guessing it dissipates any charge left in capacitors and other electrical parts. Good Idea, though.. never thought of that.

Alright I disconnected my cables a couple minutes ago..ill let ya guys know what happens after school tommorow...hopefully it's fixed.
