tcc engages at ~93*F. is this pcm controlled?

just noticed lately with my setup: 3.29 gearing, GM auxilary trans cooler, and 180* t-stat. th weather's been no higher than 40*F and i recently noticed my tcc wont engage until it reaches ~93*F according to my LS1M. i was told from a few others that their tcc engages at other temp ranges such as 70*F but i dont know if they were using a trans cooler or not and the trans fluid heated up quicker than mine. also on days where the ambient temps were above 40*F(which is rare since its still winter) i noticed my TCC wouldnt engage until roughly 110-115*F. anyone know why? trannyman? anyone? i havent paid attention to where my engine coolant temp(ect) was at when my trans temp reached 93*F or at 110-115*F. so is this PCM controlled or just how the fluid is being circulated based on the temp of the fluid or a little bit of both?

There is a minimum trans temp for lockup to occur in the PCM... 93*F seems a bit high from all the stock values I can recall... Most are 20 or 25* C (68 and 77*F)...

yea i was thinking the same. however since im running a trans cooler, the additional pathway might take longer for the fluid to reach 68-77*F along the way somewhere depending on where the pcm picks up the trans temp and the other area its already reading 93*F or warmer. thats one theory anyway.

Hmm. Highly possible it takes longer.

Curious, what year of car do you have? The setting might be at the higher 25*C and could be lowered to the later lower stock value of 20*C.. You have access to a tuner?

my car's a 98 gtp. i do have a powertuner but it doesnt show any tables that involve when the tcc engages on a cold motor. i also looked into a program a few members on CGP put together called tiny tuner that has access to a few other tables the powertuner doesnt include but unfortunately doesnt show any tables regarding this particular issue.

Hmm. Yeah, it wont be in PowrTuner or HPT yet. Might be in latest version of tiny tuner database.. I have it in my copy of TinyTuner database as I work with Eddie and a few other guys on the db..

A 98 GTP pcm/bin will have a stock value of 25*C required before the tcc will lockup.. Let me know if it is in the copy of TinyTuner you can get.. If not, it should be in a release shortly if eddie updates the download.. I could change the value for you to if needed. I changed my 97 from 25*C to the lower stock value of 20*C seen in later years.
