Taillight Shields Missing

The shields that block water @ the taillights, under the trunk lid, sending it down the channel rather than into the taillight housing, are missing.

Just bought the car, but I've never seen this part missing on any car I've owned. I have owned two previous W bodies.
I checked with parts at the Pontiac dealer, he couldn't find any part, but I know something is missing. Seems a funny place to save $2.00.

Or is it?

Was this a common missing part, or are GP taillights just so wonderful that water and stuff draining down into them doesn't matter?
