how do you hook up a switch to an amp

For what purpose?
If it is to turn amp on/off then use the remote turn on wire from the headunit.

Yep just put it in the remote wire.

I just a lil small switch into the remote line and ran it to my center console

You solder to wires to the ends of teh switch.

I have an idea...ya did it wrong.



Try getting the wiring diagram for ur headunit out and making sure the one u hooked it up to was the on wire. If its not working find the wire that supplies the power to radio when u turn ur ignition on and just tap into that.
