Sway Bar Upgrade

2007GPGTSC

New member
Ok guys here is the deal last night while putting new bearings and brakes on I noticed that my front sway bar is cracked on the driver side more like a split. Only the top half of the bar is split as you can see in the pictures. Regardless it needs replaced and I figured why not replace with an upgraded sway bar. After reading up a bit my first question is - I read that 04-05 Grand Prix changed the lca's and it was switched back to 97-03 design in 06-08 is this true and if so this does mean I can run the GMPP sway bar or other similar sway bars? As the different lcas only applies to 04-05 while my car is a 2007. If this is not correct please feel free to correct me I tried to do my research before posting this but we all know the internet is always accurate right!

Anyways if this is the case and I do not need to swap lca's please also fell free to recommend other sway bars obviously I want a solid sway bar

Here are the photos of my cracked/split sway bar

Yes you have the older style LCAs.. where the saw bar is mounted to the LCA... Un like my car where the sway bar is mounted to the struts.. stupid design lol

As for the sway bar I've heard good things about the gmpp one.. but I think the Progressive one is the beefiest one you can buy now

I guess its not that uncommon for them to just snap like this ? My question is why the hell would the make them hollow anyways stupid

I agree you should go with the Dorman bar. Mine cracked exactly like yours did and that's what I replaced it with. It's a great bar.

^yes. And to answer the question as to why theyd make a hollow bar, weight. These cars are pretty nose heavy.
