Swapping out stock head unit

I have a 2008 GP base without the monsoon system and without on star, but i do have steering wheel controls. I was wondering what all i would need to put in a touch screen double din radio. Or which kind you guys would recommend? It looks easy to swap cuz i took it all apart yesterday just there where two adapters plugged in and Ive only have worked on ones that have had one. Ive heard that alot can go wrong and that my DIC will no longer have the correct date and stuff like that. Is this true? Any Info will help. Thanks
 


GMOS-01 for harness (you just won't hook up anything to the onstar connector), and PAC-SWI-X for steering wheel controls, (but only if your radio supports them), and Metra 95-3527 for the Double DIN mounting frame.
 
Alright thanks for the help, I guess I'll give it a shot sometime and see how it goes, guess now that I think about it how many people actually use their DIC for the date? Lol
