Swap 97 supercharged into 03 N/A?

Found a series 2 supercharged engine for sale out of a 97 grand prix. Im thinking of buying it redoing it and swapping it into my 2003 gt. Any major differences? It come with the tranny so i am hoping to drop the tranny and engine in as one. Will I have any troubles because of major changes from 97 to 03?

Leave your transmission.

Take the top end.

Enjoy the blower + higher compression...the way it should have been from the factory.

To add, get some headers, a wideband, a tuner...keep the stock pulley and go to town, especially since your '03 transmission has the hardened 4th shaft from the factory.

I would highly suggest you swap the trans and everything directly with it, and run a 99 file.

I just did this with my 99 and was glad I did not have to deal with building a hybrid na trans/ supercharged motor pcm file.... They are litterally impossible to do correctly, and the quirks of having the 3.29 gears in a gtp file are annoying to me.

I heard that the tranny's in the gt's are weaker than the tranny's in the gtps? Is this true? Thats why i was thinking of taking the tranny from it too

'03 GT Trans > '97 GTP transmission.

Only thing better is the HD diff, which can be shredded just as easy if you drive like a dummy.

nope.

03 trans needs 03 PCM.

But it can operate any series II+ engines.

But you'd need to change the file on the PCM for the engine you install.

'03 Transmission WILL NOT work with a '99 file, Scott.

Been there, done that.

Just get a '03 GTP PCM, toss the '97 motor in, and put the gear settings to match the N/A transmission, done and done.

I clearly said that he should put the 97 trans in with it....

I have tried to run a 03 3.29 trans boosted setup plenty of times with nothing but issues each go. Can it work, sure, but if you want simple, just toss the 97 trans in and leave your 03 around for a spare or sell it.
