suspension squeaks like old mattress (video)

The front driver side suspension is squeaking a lot. The tie rod ends were shot so we replaced both, and no luck. The guys at the shop took both struts out and they are fine so were the springs. They replaced the rubber bases where the springs sit. They lubed the rest of the parts and still squeaks.

We are planning on changing the strut base to see if that fixes it, but at this point we are pretty much guessing. Any ideas will be appreciated, thanks!

sorry i had to hold the camera on my left hand, but on the video I first turn the steering left and right and at the end i'm pushing the car down to make it bounce a little.

the sound seems to come directly from the wheel area.

at first it seems like the strut mount but then i realized you were turning the wheel..could it be the rzeppa(outer cv joint) joint that dried out

This is the part that we are talking about, right? I went to see it to the autoparts store, but somehow I got the idea that it should have a ball bearing lol.

Bad ball joints would pop, not squeek. And they would eat his tires up. Any competent shop would have been able to tell him they were bad as well.

thanks guys, i bought the strut mount, comes with the bearings and all. hopefully that will fix it. i'll have it installed tomorrow.

well, I had the mount replaced yesterday. It worked fine on the way home, but now the squeak is back, except it sounds a little less loud. Still does it under the same circumstances (truning the steering and moving the car up and down). It sounds like rubber rubbing against metal.

not sure what could I change next.

Check the front suspension pieces. The tie rods, the endlinks, control arms, CV boots and sway bar bushings. Possibly have someone turn the wheel while you look under the car.

yeah we checked all that, it seems to be ok. i took it to another shop today. they also think it just needs lubing, they lubed it again and said it would go away, but it obviously didn't.

i'm not sure on which piece to put my next bet on lol.

It is the lower ball joint u can jack it up and lube it rotate the steering wheel several times while jacked up, but at this point the correct repair is to replace it.The noise is rust inside the ball joint.

That could be it. I'm not sure if the guy at the shop lubed the ball joint or not. Gonna ask him and lube it if he didn't. If it stops squeaking I'll replace it.

Looks like the winner was the lower ball joint. I lifted it and sprayed it with WD40 and the squeak is gone. Gonna replace it if / when it squeaks again.
