So at my job (construction company) there’s a lot of my co-workers that are comprised of guys who are into cars and modding them. My department just got a new plumber foreman and he’s like 60-something and is a pretty laid-back kinda guy. So he and I got talking about what we did over the weekend and yadda-yadda-yadda got into the topic of cars and that I went to the nearby junkyard and then went straight to the dragstrip with stuff in the trunk from the junkyard lol.
He then asked what I drove and I modestly said a 98 grand prix 4-dr sedan. I told him its nothing special and that I like the car for what it is. I told him I sucked at the track this past weekend and that I need some time to tune and get summer tires (ran with michellin hydroedges :th_angry-teeth
. He asked what does my car run, and he started splurting numbers like 15 seconds, and I kinda gave a light smirk as I tried to contain my composure of blurting out laughing. He looked puzzled:th_scratchhead: and then tried to guess again and then he said, “then 16 seconds isn’t sooo bad right?”. At that point I smiled and said, “my car’s trying to break 12s”, and his eyes opened wide and jaw dropped:th_eyepopping:ROFLMAO. He said my car has got to be heavily modified, but I clearly told him, just bolt-ons and because I can run bolt-ons was due to it being supercharged. He was more around the big blocks and carburetors so he was not so familiar with today’s electronics and fuel-injection. Also he asked if it’s a trailer-queen and I again smiled and said its my DD and I drive it wherever
