Supercharger vs. Turbo

I have an 04 GT and I was thinking about maybe throwing in either a supercharger or a turbo. What are your opinions on which might give me better preformance and which is easier to install? I'm new to trying to performance parts so I'm not the best on knowing what is better and all of that.

TVS! j/k j/k

Realistically, what are your plans?

what is your budget?

A supercharger kit would be relatively easy, and cheaper, but won't get you the same power figures that a good turbo kit will. Its all in what you want as far as power vs $$$

Re: Super charger vs. Turbo

Right now it's just a thought so when i decide on which one i want to go with it will help me look and save for it. Right now i just use my car for back and forth to work. But, I'm really wanting to get the Hp up on it to take it out to the drag strip and run it. I want to make it look go for driving around and i want to give it more power for when i'm out messing around in it.

Re: Super charger vs. Turbo

mmmm vegas. that cars going to knock like a mother ****er in the summer if you tune it in the winter.

Re: Super charger vs. Turbo

Do you have goals? As in making XXXhp or run a time of XX.xx? A little more fun under throttle could be had without a top swap (supercharger)

If you've got at least a few grand lying around and want a real ballsy build then turbo would be the way to go.

Re: Super charger vs. Turbo

I still have to go to the track to run it for my time. It would be awesome to take the hp as high as I can just to show it off. I heard turbos can be difficult to put in.

Re: Super charger vs. Turbo

If you hear that turbo's can be difficult to put in then... well, i dont know what to tell you.

Factor in the cost of a turbo setup, a good tune, and a built trans as the stocker will most likely ghost on you with elevated power levels. No sense building a track monster of a motor if the trans is still stock. Gotta upgrade all around.

....not to mention youre going to need to put on some damn good tires for traction and tires are pretty costly. turbo cars tend to be finicky...especially with that heat you are in.

It all depends on your goals. A top swap is pretty easy to do, and I'd recommend it. Just keep an eye out for motors with bad blocks and use it as a parts motor. I spent around $1500 for my top swap stuff, and that was with headers and rebuilding the heads.
