Supercharger vs turbo

Now we all know turbos make more power on these 3800s than the M90 but my question is to those who have had full out 3800 M90 builds and than swapped over to turbo for more power.

Whats the low end power diff between the two and the take off speed diff which is quicker? I know turbos usually have more top end and superchargers are quick off the line but i just wanna here from first hand 3800 experiencers.

Im just curious of the low end torque diff and the quickness diff between a supercharged and turbo 3800. I like that quickness off the line and or from a digg
 


I didnt have a fully built m90, 3.4 and the support mods then went to turbo. Low end sucks balls cant even squeal off the line. After your done crying for 1.1 seconds of no low end it goes M90 what?
 
I've never been in a turbo 3800 but have owned, driven, been a passenger, etc in several turbo cars. I'll tell you like I've told numerous other people is that turbo lag is overstated.
 
I had a 2.8 pulley on my GTP with ported L32 heads, xp cam, full size intercooler and a built transmission. the bottom end on the xp cam wasn't that great. I would guess the car was making about 350 hp at the wheels, and it wasn't enough. I have a turbo to put on and expect the powerband to be much better.
 


It's going to depend on what turbo you go with, and quite a few other aspects.

A turbo will not have the instant response the m90 does. You can set up an antilag to help, or brake boost, but you aren't going to sit at idle and have boost at an instant.
 


Thanx for the honest replies. I would love the power of a turbo but i cant deny the quickness of a supercharger at any given time. And the supercharger whine is just.........music to the ears
 
My turbo setup is quicker in every way at the track. 60' dropped from best of 1.54 to best of 1.42, and consistent 1.4x.

On the street, full boost is achieved in under one second, not m90 instant, but it is so much quicker once it hits, it doesn't really matter.

I sized everything for good response, so 6262 turbo and ST1 cam, if you use a bigger turbo and oversized cam for the engine, the response will be slower.
 
The m90 may be slightly faster off the line but it will never have the butt pucker factor of the turbo when it spools up.

It now does the same mph at the 1/8th that it did with the m90/1.9 rocker setup that I ran the first time in the 1/4 mile, 106mph lol.

Turbo setup has been 137.x mph, with a slower ET.
 


the technology that Eaton used when they designed the M90 was from the mid 90's, and turbo technology has come so far since then. with compressor maps all the different nozzle's available you have so many options that can dramatically reduce spool time while still making decent power. I saw a guy who twin turboed a 3800 engine in a sand rail with 30mm turbos, and that thing only made 300 hp, but it made that power at like 2000 rpms.
 
With the 3800's best Muffler being a turbocharger.... the choice is plainly obvious for the best exhaust sound.

The small 54 millimeter turbo on a buddy's Bonneville is stupid insane fast light-off....exploding off the line that he can easily Burn Rubber with an L 36 and minimal "rubber banding"
 
Not too sure about that, I'd run a 4340 input shaft for years with the m90, lasted a week on he street with the turbo before shattering. The 300m I replaced it with broke within 3 months of street use and two trips to the track. Killed 4 7/8" chains in that time too.
