Supercharger ?s

I was deciding on getting either a 2 or 4 lbs more pulley but was sure on whether any thing else was required such as bigger fuel injectors or getting it retuned for more bosst i have had turbo cars before and know the headache you go through when wanting to add more boost to them so any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Dan

you dont want to drop pullies without a bunch of flow mods. these cars take a bunch of supporting mods to run much more than 8 or 9 pounds of boost. do a little reading around the forums. you also cant buy pullies and expect a certain amount of boost. it depends on what else you have done to the car.

depending upon what you want to get out of the car in terms of power and 1/4 times we can give suggestions on what to buy.

X2...we gotta know what you want outta it before we start telling you what to buy etc...

But I will say get a colder t-stat/plugs/intake of some sort/tuned PCM/headers...

That will allow you to safely drop to a 3.4" pulley vs. your stock 3.8" and you'll be running around 10-12 pounds of boost.

Basically i want a really mean street machine out of this car to take car of a little rice problem we seem to have around my area i have already have a full 3 inch exhaust custom built from the down pipe back i have put msd wires and plugs on the car and my next step is to get a full k and n air intake for the car and then possibly headers. What other mods with help this along and i noticed that on my aftermarket gauge that i am runnign ten lbs of boost now. Also is the any other cold air intakes that look as nice as the K&N but without the cost not that i am trying to go the cheapest route i was just wondering i know ebay has them for 50 bucks but the not very nice looking

dont get a k&n. it is a waste of money. make your own intake from home depot for like $50 and save yourself a lot of money and have one that actually works well. dont get one from ebay either, they are the k&n, only flashier.

if you just want something to beat ricers you dont need much. when you say from the downpipe back, does that mean you have a 3" downpipe already? youre gonna need that. id suggest looking into a front powerlog from ZZP and some form of a PCM, whether you go with intense, DHP, or overkill. if you want headers you can skip the powerlog and the downpipe, they takes care of both.

how fast do you want to go? do you want a mid-13s car or do you want to run 12s? if all you want is a street machine that runs mid-low 13s then you dont need headers. dont jump to a supercharger pulley until you get a few supporting mods and a tune.

I would love to run a low to mid 13 with my car even tho it is a four door and when i said 3 inch down pipe i meant from the manifolds back with a high flow cat and it splits into 2.5 inch dual pipes in the rear i had this system mandrel bent and installed for 300 bucks so basically i need and set of headers intake and a pcm?

youre well on your way to a mid 13 with a 3" downpipe already. youll probably need a front powerlog from ZZP, an intake of some form, a good tune, and a 3.4 pulley. you might need rockers, but the tune is the most important part of that setup.

bio- this is some really good info on what to expect out of each part
screamin green- dont forget to scan for knock retard. if the computer detects detonation, it will retard the spark timing

Thanks for all the help now i have alot of shops that will tune turbo setup cars but i dont think we have a lot of ppl willing to tune for a supercharger now i do have the sofware on my laptop to watch all of my parameters of the car. I have tuned some cars before i basically just have to becareful and watch all of my sensors and adjust accordenly right?. I thank you for all the help. When u say ill need rockers for what reason will i need them and what brand of rockers do you suggest

Thanks
Dan

What reason? To move air in and out faster so you don't develop knock...

As for the brand, modified stockers are fine. Plenty of companies do them.

yep. higher ratio rockers are just a more valvetrain friendly and cheaper option to running a higher lift cam.

I was looking into those power logs from zzp and what sucks is that the rear manifold is out of stock and i contacted them and they are not sure when it will be back in stock. I also was looking around and stumbled upon there ZZ 1.0 pcm what are the reviews on this pcm and do u think it would be safe to install on my car as far as i can read it would be. Im just asking to verify

Thanks

Dan

the rear one isnt all that restrictive.

ive never had a PCM from them, but i just keep hearing bad stories.

overkill just from everyone elses experience, but i would recommend that you have someone local tune your car so it is specific to your car.

Dan -

A custom tune is a much better option than a canned tune PCM.
It will be set up specifically for your car so you will not only be avoiding potential problems with a generic tune, but you will also be able to pull the best performance out of your engine.
The other upside is that it is usually cheaper for a custom tune.

We may be able to point you in the direction of someone that can help you out.

Where in PA are you?

I agree with most of the stuff above but the plog. If you want low 13's spend the money on the Headers. You'll think yourself later. Also look at getting a colder thermostat like 180* and Colder plugs to help with KR like Autolite 104's or NGK TR55's . Rockers are available from many vendors. If I had the money I would get Harland Sharp or ZZP's modified stock 1.9 rockers.
