• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Sunroof will not close completely!

I've got a big problem, today I was working on the gp and opened the sunroof. Except it would only tilt up. It didn't even attempt to slide back, no clicks or anything. Then when I tried to close it it just barely went down. Well I kept pushing the button and would get clicks and it would barely move down more. It got to almost closing but would stop. No clicking even anymore. Then I raised it and tried again. Did this several times and each time it went down less. Now I have a half inch gap and don't know what to do. It will not go down. I can physically push it down, but it won't stay. I really need to at least get this temporarily fixed because I can't have rain coming in or an even greater reason for theft around here. And really need to find a permanent fix as well. I don't know ANYTHING about sunroofs so please help me out. I'm just fixing a few more things to sell it for tuition money and I really can't be spending a fortune guessing and checking on this.
Please help if you have any ideas.
Thanks!

Holding the button did not work. How do you take the switch and/or map light assembly out? I feel like I'm gonna break it if I just pull it out

I'm assuming it has broken something small or skipped or broken a gear. I think it thinks it's down all the way when it's not and it doesn't slide back because it doesn't get to the spot on the gear that it's supposed to when it tilts up prior to sliding.
Anybody have ideas?
the motor is strong, it tilts up and down despite me pushing on it. I don't think it can be the switch.

Sunroof motor uses 1 gear and a hard plastic piece to move window. Taking that center light assembly out I don't recommend cause I've had mine completely removed along with the head linear. U may just need a new motor

So the ONLY thing in the whole system is the motor, one gear, one hard plastic piece, tracks, and sunroof glass? Could any adjustment pieces, slider arms, ect cause this? The motor seems plenty strong. If I push down on it and push switch to open its really strong.

Yes it could easily be out of adjustment. Four star head screws are what adjusts the glass. Or one of the actual arms that pushes the glass open could be getting jammed

Should I be able to wiggle the sunroof any when it's in the tilted up position? Because I can some and make the front drivers side corner move about an inch

I'm about to get off work for the day.. post on here in about two hours so it'll remind me and I'll pull up some diagrams and all for the sunroof
