Sunroof-Moonroof Conversion

So I'm having troubles with my sunroof and a conversion came to mind last night....I'm wondering if a later model Grand Prix's moonroof will fit inside the bay of where my sunroof is and would it work like it should if it did fit?
 


Moonroofs slide IN the sheet metal, and I don't think there would be anywhere for it to slide to...
 
Less headroom by what an inch? That would still leave plenty of headroom for even a tall person. Unless you sit way up high in the chair.

Well then maybe I'm misunderstood what I have then because the glass of my sun/moonroof goes between my roof n headliner n I wanted one the actually pops up n then slides back if possible but anyways I'm hoping I don't have to replace the unit. But it would def be unique either way if it were customized like y'all mentioned
 


Just take it and have the whole roof replaced with glass, except leave like 3 nches of metal around the edges. Then make it removable for nice nights.
