• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Suggestions?

damn yo, that deck is sick. I think I'm going to end up getting either a JVC or Pioneer, what are the specs I should be lookin for on it exactly? I heard if you don't have enough plugs in the back you might not be able to power all your speakers or something like that...

my personal opinion, 2 elemental designs e5 12s in a ported box. eD nine.1 amp great subs, great amp, great and quality company imo. im sure someone else with bi*ch about them tho. :th_laugh-lol2:

the alpine 9885 was a great deck, when it was made lol now it turned into the cda 105. i had a 9885 and i really liked it. but if you dont really have a budget look into a 9886 or 9887. both are great decks too. i now have an eclipse cd5030 with 5 volt preouts and a million options and like that too! never liked jvc or pioneer. kinda over rated imo

4-5 volt pre outputs
3 of them front rear and sub

as for that Kenwood why buy the old one heres the new one: Kenwood KDC-X993 (kdcx993) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix

So I did some searching on Alpine, and it seems as if they're about $100 more expensive than other brands I've looked it, is there any reason for that?

x2. price range is everything

Alpine CDA-9886 (cda9886) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix
step below the 9887, still a good deck tho
Alpine CDA-9887 (cda9887) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix
higher end alpine, more options, better deck but more money
Alpine CDA-105 (cda105) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix
from experience this is a great deck
Alpine CDA-117 (cda117) - Car Stereo In-Dash Receiver at Sonic Electronix - Sonic Electronix
i dont know anything about this one, but it looks nice, it is worth comparing other options to.

other people will tell you kenwood is the best, other like pioneer. i had a kenwood for my first deck and liked it but then i grew up and into the big boy decks. i have never bought pioneer, they look like they have good stuff but i think they are overrated big time. just my thoughts tho. best thing to do is compare the options each deck has, price, and reviews. :)

the deck is the one thing I wanna go all out on, so price really isn't too much of a matter. On speakers and subs I don't to go overly expensive, but the deck on the other hand I don't wanna cheap out on.

and thanks for the advice chicken, I think that's what I'm gonna be doing. It'll be a few more weeks before I can buy anything due to unchangeable circumstances, but when I do I'll let you guys know what I go with. I'm really leaning towards the Alpines.

JL audio makes rock solid amplifiers for the money. 500/1 on a 12w6 and a 300/4 on some nice components. Head unit alpine/pioneer prs800 or 880/eclipse cd7200mkii or cd7100, or anything with good preout voltage is fine. The higher the preout voltage the lower you set your gain on your amplifier so it doesnt have have to work as hard. Speaker's are very price dependant, but definitely components. Morel tempo's are made by one of the best speaker companies out there. Econo line but they're more quality than most in there price class. This isn't necessarily a "budget" system but it'll get you quality for your money.
Stay away from bargain basement brands like Pyramid, Pyle, Lightning audio, Anything you can buy at a flea market/expo setting will break or blow or just flat out suck.
GL with your purchase:th_thumbsup-wink:

omg nascar thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. And Daytona thanks for the advice on what amps and things to buy, I'll definitely be referencing that in the near future. Now I just need to bookmark this page so I can always find it hahah
