I have had an issue with my driver door for awhile now. The crease right when you open the door was catching and tearing the side trim piece off....the one with the holes of course. I had to remove that piece of trim to fix the part of the door that got bent. So far so good (knock on wood) It doesnt catch anymore. Upon removing the trim I noticed that it is absolutely nasty and surprised it didnt fall off.

What would be the best thing to use to replace that piece? It came off fine just need to remove all the old sticky goop. Also I think some of the clips broke off that connect to the holes in ther door. Would it better to try to find a new piece?

so the metal is bent too? i mean you can find the plastic side skirting at a junk yard. after you clean the goop off you can use 3M tape and/or an adhesive to attach the skirt back on. probably gonna want to seal it off with the adhesive so water doesnt get in as well

The metal WAS bent, after I removed the piece of trim i used a crowbar to get behind that piece of the fender and pull it forward, it seems to be much better. It doesnt catch when I close the door. Its a little rusted there from all the time of that part rubbing because I went through winter like that. I hope to get a new paint job! I think my piece of trim is ok and doesnt even seem bent I just need to know the most succcessful way to reattach it so i dont get this problem again???

Side note, It sucks when you try to mod your car to make it look nice and then you have a car just like yours parked right beside you and when open the door it catches and makes that aweful ghettofied noise. I hope its fixed!

Trust me I know. Both sides have caught, my whole passenger side fender is now deformed from being bent in and "repaired" and my driver side skirt just like yours is a little peeled back.

pull the fender out so the door doesnt ever hit it again. i used a big screwdriver.

as far as reattaching the molding, double sided tape and a few strategic screw placements are about your only choice.
