Sub Craps Out When Volume Goes Up

the Woofer or i guess just the bass in general.
so i was wondering if it isn't getting enough power to it?

Ever think you don't have enough sub for your power level?

Also try pushing in on the sub cone EQUALLY on all sides of the dust cap and see if it feels like its rubbing on anything.

his sub is rated 150 nominal... 800 peak... here are the amp specs:Amplifier Output Details: 50 Watt - 4 Ohm - THD 1.0 % - 14.4V DC - 4 channel(s) 75 Watt - 2 Ohm - THD 1.0 % - 14.4V DC - 4 channel(s) 150 Watt - 4 Ohm - THD 1.0 % - 14.4V DC - 2 channel(s)

only thing that amp is good for is maybe some cheesy 6x9's.. not tryin to downtalk ur stuff... but if u want good sound ur gonna have to upgrade like matt says.

well thanks for all the help. i dont honestly have the money right now. so yeahh ill be waiting til next week but you guys seem to know a lot about... well everything :th_laugh-lol3:

Wow, 50wpc at 1% THD.

I have a 1979 ADS P-100 rated 50wpc into 4 ohms at .005% at 12v:) Its only 30 years old.

as far as no money, yea I hear that.

but like the others said, save your pennies and buy an amp that is decent for a sub. I'm not crazy about high power levels and I was running 240W x2 in a standard cab pickup with semi decent efficiency subs. It did what I needed for 7 yrs. But when you move the woofers from right behind your seat in the cab, to in the trunk all of that goes out the window.

sony stuff is crap IMO. Especially their "cheaper" stuff. And I did run a dual amp but one thing i made sure to do was buy one rated for twice as much power as what i needed. I believe they rate their amps higher than what they actually do, one way i have to prove this is with the HU volume at max, and amp gain at 12 db (max) there was only a couple of hard hitting songs that sounded distorted. Of course i didn't leave it there, i was testing it to see if my thoughts were right. Dunno what you have to say about that matt
