• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Stupid xbox......

Weird, my NES and Genesis have never had any problems. Did you try blowing on the cartridge?

Don't forget - sometimes the springs are bad - so you may need to put another cartridge on top of the one you want to play...:th_thumbsup-wink:

i almost broke down and sold all my xbox stuff to buy a ps3...

I bought my 1st xbox back in 06, and since then, i'm now on my 5th one. All of them except my last xbox were replaced for free for the 3 red lights. My last one, the drive went out, and it was gonna cost $120 to get it fixed, even though, the thing was less than a year old. Xbox told me that all other issues are only under warranty for 90 days.......so....your telling me that xbox is only guaranteeing their system will work for 90 days? skeet. I took it apart to fix it myself after watching online vids, but xbox makes the drives now to only they can fix it and regular customers cannot. skeet.

so, sold the xbox for $20, and bought an elite with a 2 year service plan. I had too much stuff for the xbox to sell and only be able to afford a new ps3, controller and 1 game

I bought my xbox 360 off of ebay for 81 bux with a bad drive. Fixed the drive with a new drive i bought off ebay for 20 bux. Xbox's are easy to fix. Just youtube the issue and there are dozens of tutorials. I even learned how to take the thing apart from a youtube vid.

slap some arctic silver on there, the thermal paste thats on there is ****.

yes do this, and if it still dont work i think there is a trace you can cut on the board so it cant tell what temperature its running, thermal sensor might be bad. did you heatgun it? might want to try that could be a cold joint under gpu/cpu, tin foil over capacitors and plastic parts and hit both sides of board in that area with a heatgun

xboxs are designed to fail, thats why they have a 'death guage' (red ring) built in! ive had my PS3 since the first year they came out with no probs, the graphics are better and online play is free, WIN
its more for an easy diagnosis, like the check engine light

Cheaper location for the Disc Drives/anything else.

I'm about to go onto my 7th here!:th_shakinghead2:
All but one have been RRoD. That one was a "software" problem where it would freeze on the Xbox globe screen.

Anyone have an Xbox HardDrive fail? My box wouldn't load, and got E74 error... removed HD and used a flash drive instead and played fine. Also could just be a fluke, iirc this is what happens before RRoD.

I for one have never had a severe problem with my Xbox, though it is starting to turn into a piece because my friend's cats knocked it off a 3.5ft ledge a few times. Also, would you care to explain exactly how and why the graphics on the PS3 are "better" than the graphics on the Xbox? :)

yeah generally the 360 versions are better optimized and thus have better textures and more use of HDR (see contrast) which further adds to the more impressive graphics...

And this is coming from someone who has had a ps3 since launch.

from expirience the blue ray disks show more detail than the HD DVD disks in both movies and the video games. play one game on xbox and another on PS3 on the same TV, the graphics and backround detail for PS3 look more realistic IMO. ive always thought that when i play the same games i have for PS3 on xbox, you just cant beat blue ray

Blu ray is the proper term....

Storage medium has NOTHING to do with the level of detail in shown for a video game.... for the most part. Its all about processing power.

BD and HD DVD's looked the same for the most part.

That's funny, because if you look at the specs, the video formats of BD and HDDVD are essentially identical lol. Also, the Xbox actually tends to have a farther draw distance than the PS3, and the texture resolutions tend to be higher. On paper the PS3 is actually more powerful than the Xbox, but it's far more difficult to harness the power of the PS3 than it is on the Xbox due to the more intricate processing architecture. The PS3 has several processors that do more specific things, whereas the Xbox has a general-purpose hyperthreading triple core 3.2GHz processor (allowing for the processing of 6 threads simultaneously, effectively making it comparable to a 6 core processor). When talking graphics processing alone, the Xbox's Xenos GPU is superior both on paper and in practice due to its higher fillrate, higher pixel processing power, higher vertex processing power, and better memory architecture. Also considering that antialiasing is free on the Xbox, the PS3's RSX simply doesn't compare (though the Cell processor can be used to assist with the graphics, most developers haven't harnessed it well enough).

So to sum everything up, basically the only games that are going to look better on the PS3 are the super-huge AAA titles like MGS4 and Killzone 2, which are both proprietary only to the PS3 so they don't require porting of any sorts, and would be insulting to the console if they didn't look as great as they possibly could.

And that concludes our broadcast day.

PS: Sorry for the thread jack lol.

thats interesting, and i cant argue with specs, i was just stating my opinon which console has the better graphics. better graphics was one of the critera i used to decide if i wanted microsoft or sony and after the first time i plyed PS3 the xbox just wasnt cuttin it for me. and im glad because i have friends that have been thru 2 or 3 360s and my PS3 has never givin me problems (knock on wood) and i got it the december of its debut year

hyper threading was a fail and you know it...

For the most part yes, but it does offer some advantages over not having it. Basically all it does is offer a bypass lane for the processor -- if one task hangs for any reason (if a car is taking a left turn), the processor can execute the task on the secondary thread (you can pass the car using the bypass lane).

i have 3 xbox's 2 modded, and 1 live 360.

1 of the modded i run as a media player/ game holder. the other one i use as my main player for most of my games. the 1 live xbox is my halo playing xbox :D

i am going to be however be purchasing my first ps3 when GT5 comes out :D unless they release it for the pc which would be 20x better since i only have almost a grand in useless Graphics cards right now lol
