Last night around 10:00 I was with a buddy getting my trans tuned in just right cause we were still having problems with it. I Got on the gas and my car is loud right now due to a quickly thrown togteher exhaust. I Decided to turn around and go back to the gas station to bump up my rev limiter casue i was hitting rev limiter while shifting. I turned on the a road and did a u turn (First **** up) Then stepped on the gas, tires were wet and they spun a little bit. I NEVER went of 30 MPH, (speedlimit 35) as i was pulling into the gas station cop pulled in behind me and asked why he pulled me over i said Exhaust!?! he said you got to be ****ing kidding me right? It you and these damm ricers that are screwing **** up. (thinking to myself your a ****ing dumb ass i aint a ricer) So he had me go in the cop car. I forgot my insurance card at home. So t hen he went to tell me that i was driving wreckless, and noise violation. So i was like WTF!!! Then he leaves and goes and talks to another officer and ik by then im ****ed. He tells me to get out and that im being arrested for wreckless drving and no proof of insurance!! O BTW HE NEVER READ ME MY MIRIANDA RIGHTS!!!!! Then he nails me for window tint, noise violation, exhaust, reckless and no proof of insurance. So i get to jail and need $200 to post bond, glad i had that. then they impoundeed my car another $125. I had insurance!!
 


You got hit hard on that one! Most of that stuff around here would just be a fix it ticket.

You can be considered driving wreckless if you accelerate quickly without exceeding the speed limit with the way most states have the law written.
 
I hope you are going to fight this in court. If you had a friend with you why did they impound the car? I would say careless driving maybe but wreakless not a chance. How bad did you spin them?
 
what a dick. my brother is a cop and says to always be polite even if the cop is being a dick because he can be. and fight it all, it was wet out so your tires slipped, you forgot your insurance and you have proof of it so you should be fine. thats alot for bail, its $40 around here.
 
that sucks, sorry to hear this happened.

But I know in WI they changed it to be illegal to drive without proof of insurance and your I.D. (license).

Also, (not trying to be a dik) but it almost sounds like you were giving the cop attitude. again. not trying to be a dik

I've had my share of traffic tickets. Friend of mine got a ticket for no license. The cop gave him a ticket for it (I think $180 here) and told him his license is good on the computer so he could continue driving. My friend said, "What so you can pull me over again." Sometimes cops are just stupid.

Besides a lawyer, do your research online for your state so also you don't go to the lawyer with nothing. Ask them what they think they can do for you. Lawyers sometimes will try to just go for the easy downgrade. Here, it was unsafe driving and the prosecutors went along with it cause it was a money maker. $400, but no points. Now you can only get 2 in your lifetime for NJ since they changed the law. Automatic 4pts on 3rd use. Most states even have an online library of all the traffic laws. Look your's up for the exact definition. Sometime figuring out the numbering system is a little difficult. Then check what the prosecutor might downgrade them to thru forums and the lawyer. I've fought many myself and when I need assistance, my girl works for a law firm. Free legal services is always a plus.

As for the cop, I think he was being a dick and as others have said, you always have to be polite (wasn't there so don't know how you were). Didn't know you could get arrested for wreckless driving. And damn ricers, sounds like the cop has a grudge. Sucks you couldn't of had someone bring you the insurance card so your car didn't get impounded at least.
 
isnt the cop cussing at u a no no? i had a friend get cussed at and he went to the police station and they dropped the charge.
 
****ty luck man. Sounds like he was having a bad night and the whole insurance thing is dumb if you ask me. I know I have gotten tickets for not having the current card with me but I have the policy number so they have just given me a written warning because they were too lazy to check into the policy.

Ya it was wet as hell out the last couple days here....i know it had to be up there...its like 70 miles.

But WTF no miranda rights...shouldnt that be like disordely conduct or something. And "Ricer"....cop probably has no clue your car would ass rape his car multiple times over.
 
I wouldnt go the Miranda route BUT, I would say that he swore at you and used racial slurs. Cops cannot say **** and you could consider "ricer" a racial slur. Other than that I would also claim harassment on that basis. Just tell the prosecutor (if you don't get a lawyer) that you want to file harassment charges on the officer and tell them you want a copy of the police car camera as evidence. I can tell you that this might not get cleared up in one day. There is a strong possibility you will have make several appearances. In my honest professional opinion its not gonna be easy. If you do get a lawyer try to find someone who knows the judges and at best used to be a public defender in the county you are from. Reckless driving is not something you want on your record or insurance, it is one of the worst things you can have on there other than a reckless driving with alcohol related. At the very least they should drop it down to a careless driving or exhibition of speed but I would shot for the best and see what happens. Hopefully that helps

Ok, here's one more to add to the list, My buddy last night got a TICKET for having his fog lights on, he asked if he should get a warning first, the cop responds "Not for Racers, Here's your ticket." my friend doesn't drive hard, he just has an ACR neon that looks cool.

The stupid ****s crossed me, i told them that i drive professionally, and if they try **** around me, they will have to explain to their boss how they hit my car. Now they wont come near me, probably a good thing for them... ABS delete and sticky KDW's FTW


And i was in the car with Micah when he was arrested, they said there was something wrong with his car... (idiots) it runs rough because of the XP cam.
 
Depending on the area the U-turn could be enough with the slip of the tires to give him the wreckless. Also if there is a problem in the area of street racing I could understand the crackdown on anyone that does anything that would resemble that. That being said cops can at time be dicks. Take it to court (being polite the whole time) and most likely they will drop all the points down and make you pay a fine (yes this sucks but its better than the points)
