Sir/Madam, It was resolved and agreed upon that your Inheritance/Contract Funds of $8.5m would be released to you on a special method of payment which tag Name Reads "SWIFT CREDIT CARD".You are adviced to re-comfirm YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, OCCUPATION, NEXT OF KIN. PHONE AND FAX NUMBER.

Re: stupit email i just got

I got a warning email from my credit card company saying to watch out for emails from other people asking for info like that. Its been on the radio like crazy around here today to not reply to anything asking for personal info. Some big company (can't remember who) got their server "hijacked" and all of their customers names and emails were taken. So all of those people are at risk for getting spam and what not.

Its amazing what can happen to your identity so quick. Makes me worried to even use my debit card anymore.

they are also starting to send out text messages to your phones asking for personal info too.

BANKS OR ANY FINANCIAL INSTITUTION WILL NEVER ask for any personal information in a text or email...if they are asking for personal info...account numbers...etc...do not reply, because 110% of the time, all the time...it is someone trying to scam you.

I used to freeze peoples bank accounts that deposited counterfiet checks from scams. Fun times. I agree though, I LOL whenever the news has a piece on the latest email scam like this is a new thing.

I got an email from bestbuy yesterday that someone hacked into their reward zone customer data base and warned me to be careful with scammers...

That was Epsilon that got hacked. Several companies, including the one I work for, had customer's email addresses with Epsilon. Some other companies that were sharing emails with Epsilon were Kroger, Walgreens, Chase, Capitol One, TiVO, Citi, etc.

That would explain why I got an email, my credit card is thru Citi.
Oh yay, now we have to be cautious because some people are lazy and stupid and like to screw over other innocent people. :th_angry2:

I am in the information security field and deal with this a lot. If you get one of these e-mails you should report it to the FBI. The more people we get to report the senders of the e-mails the faster we can investigate it. Most of the time it is people who are out of the country and requesting information so they can extract money from you.

I got an email this morning about some credit issues for a credit card I haven't had in almost 7 years.
